“The situation at @MonavaleWetland has been brought under control as appropriate measures have been instituted to safeguard the ecological integrity of this critical wetland ecosystem,” @MinOECW
BREAKING: In Ambassador Chifamba’s farewell speech to @RamsarConv Standing Committee (which he has been is chairing while Zimbabwe holds the Presidency) he made two very important remarks that underscore Zimbabwe’s commitment to protecting wetlands.
He said that in his new role as Permanent Secretary for Industry and Commerce he will be pushing “green industrialization that is WETLANDS FRIENDLY” 🌿 and that “Zimbabwe will have DOUBLED the number of Ramsar Sites” by COP16 in July 2028! 👏🎉🍾🌅
This is very encouraging. Now it’s time for action! 🤝

THANK YOU, fellow citizens, for the INCREDIBLE turn out today for Permanent Secretary @TMuguti’s visit to @MonavaleWetland (together with officials from @EMAeep, @cityofharare2, and Ministry of Local Government) to inspect the site where stands were being graded for Members of @ParliamentZim within the @RamsarConv site. 🚨 ALERT: NEW INCURSIONS ON MONAVALE WETLAND DESPITE GOVT DIRECTIVE 🚨
Just hours after PS @TMuguti, @EMAeep, @cityofharare2 and other Govt departments visited @MonavaleWetland Ramsar Site yesterday and advised that the MPs development was NOT lawful or authorized by @ParliamentZim, surveyors and MPs were back on the wetland pegging stands. The struggle to #SaveMonavaleVlei continues….
One of the MPs implicated in the invasion of @MonavaleWetland Ramsar Site is Energy Mutodi, MP for Bikita South. He’s been seen on the site on multiple occasions and confirmed he’s a beneficiary. Others implicated are still being verified. FOLLOW FOR UPDATES! #SaveMonavaleVlei
