Finished page proofs on forthcoming book @Harvard_Press, Until the Last Yoke is Broken: The Constitutional Vision of Frederick Douglass! It’s been amazing seeing it come to life. Also happy to report publication is moved up: Sept 29! Pre-orders available https://t.co/MBJhsSk0U2
My review of Lisa Herzog 's book The Democratic Marketplace, which provides a sharp intro to a pragmatic egalitarian conception of political economy. But I also challenge key premises of the Rawlsian-Deweyite-Habermasian project of democratic egalitarianism outlined in the book.
Many congrats to Dan Schillinger on the publication of his book Luckless! "Could it be the case that luck is an intoxicating illusion, which threatens to obscure the true explanations of human action, excuse wrongdoing or cowardice, provoke powerful emotions, and cloud judgment?"
My @Liberty_Fund piece from earlier this year on Richard Price's and Philadelphus' zealous calls for American liberty; and why the Americans wisely avoided some of their logical conclusions. I plan to draw out these themes in a series of talks I will deliver in the fall.
My article on Hayek's renderings of Tocqueville as a "true liberal" is now in the most recent issue of @AJPS_Editor.

If you're in the greater Pittsburgh area this week, stop by Seton Hill University on Thursday to hear my thoughts on the meaning of the self-evident truths of the Declaration of Independence in conversation with Prof. Ramon Lopez. @JackMillerCtr
Woodrow Wilson liked Burke; does this mean that Burke was bad? (So goes the argument; could the same logic be used for Churchill's fondness for Burke?) Here is the link to @svngelephants's very entertaining Strauss-Burke debate. @stevenfhayward

In preparation for my participation in @svngelephants's epic debate tonight b/w Burke's and Strauss' ideas, see here for a piece I wrote a little while back teasing out their similarities and tensions.
Join @stevenfhayward, @GregCollins111, Lauren Hall, & Lucretia this Wednesday at 5PM CT / 6PM ET as we debate the merits of Burke's thought in American conservatism in a livestream so nerdy most of the jokes will be hiding exoterically between the lines.

Just received a draft copy of the book jacket for my forthcoming work, “Until the Last Yoke is Broken: The Constitutional Vision of Frederick Douglass”! Hard to imagine that ~5 years of work is finally coming to life. Coming out October 2026!
Forget Ali-Frazier, 2Pac-Biggie, Sox-Yankees, and Burr-Hamilton: I'll be participating in the fight of the century on Wednesday, March 4 at 6pm featuring Leo Strauss and Edmund Burke and organized by Josh Lewis of the @SavingElephants podcast. Join us!
