@JohnSwinney letter setting out that contact tracing should go back 7 days from positive case is wholly new for some areas and creates a bigger burden for all schools/HQ teams - even those stopping on 18th. For many, 48hrs was the normal practice.

Yes, it is a pandemic so all hands to the pump. Doesn't mean schl/HQ staff don't need a break. SMTs and HQ staff have been identifying contacts in evenings/wkends for weeks. Blended learning from 18 Dec would offer respite. Not doing it risks pushing these staff over the edge.

@JohnSwinney decision not to move to blended learning from18 Dec was a big surprise given how much the proposal had been trailed. Many Local Authorities were supportive but now feel their hands are tied. All unions support such a move from the 18th (#notanextraholiday).
