Display ads are more valuable now than they have ever been, and most of adtech doesn’t even know it.
The rebuttal is always the same: “no one goes to the open web,” “the well is drying up,” “too much fraud.” To the naysayers: display ads are awesome. You just don’t know how to do them correctly.
Why do I say this? Humans are still landing on the open web. They’re just not killing time anymore. They’re not loading session after session for hours. They’re landing for very specific reasons. Intent per session is at an all-time high. Lower total sessions sound familiar?
That’s the problem for most of adtech. Those sessions have far fewer user IDs attached than they used to. Most of the industry is so wired to a stable ID that it literally throws out the ID-free world. The biggest opportunities are being completely missed.
This is only a goldmine if you can actually make decisions in these environments. Highly engaged users are seeing ads at an incredibly low CPM compared to other channels. That cheap CPM is not automatically the win. Bought sloppy, it is junk. Bought against real intent, on clean supply, it is locked-in intent at volume. Mathematically, that is when display starts making a giant impact. It’s a channel that for some reason is being written off for all the wrong reasons.
What the actual fuck are the Yankees doing here?
Peyton Tolle is a reverse splits guy. So why bench Garcia? You’re taking one of your biggest bats out of the lineup because you’re scared he can’t hit a LHP who struggles against lefties. What the actual hell?
And Jones crushes lefties, speaking of reverse splits. So why is he batting 8th?
Why play Rosario at 3B? Even if you don’t believe the reverse splits thing and don’t want to play Jazz at 3B, put Cabby out there, he’s the hotter hand and the better 3B.
None of this makes any sense. We’re gonna throw away the Schlittler game. This is so unacceptable.
If you’re gonna do the platoon thing, you gotta know who you’re matching up against.
We’re always hearing that the Yankees are analytics-focused. But simply plugging in a bunch of righties because you’re facing a LHP is lazy and shows you haven’t done your research. That’s not analytics. That’s pretending you’re smarter than everyone else when you’re clearly an idiot.

So true if you just forget the whole immediately rush for 2,000 yards, win offensive player of the year, and carry hated divisional rival to a Super Bowl championship. #nyg
LeBron James told ESPN's @mcten that he envisioned joining the Knicks as a free agent to finish his career, but ultimately put a stop to those plans after the Knicks won the NBA championship.
"I had visions of playing in [Madison Square] Garden and finishing my career in the Garden. One of the best places I've ever played.
I think it's the No. 1 arena in the world, as far as for a basketball player. But after they beat San Antonio, I was like, 'Hey, I can't.' I couldn't do it."
[The media] wouldn't have let me lay that down, at all. But much respect to the Knicks, obviously. An unbelievable team, unbelievable players. Shout out Jalen Brunson. I love that guy, he's unbelievable. But, yeah, I'm happy where I'm at and I'm looking forward to it"
This Chop Robinson hit on Patrick Mahomes was beautiful. Refs flew the flag for roughing, but it was a clean hit, no helmet. Ostensibly, the flag flew because Robinson buried his full weight? But what the HELL does the NFL expect rushers to do?
Mahomes gets ALL the calls...
