🇺🇸 One of the greatest flying stories ever told
His spaceship’s brain died 100 miles above Earth. So he became the spaceship.
May 16, 1963. Gordon Cooper was alone in Faith 7 — a metal capsule barely larger than a phone booth — circling the planet at 17,500 miles per hour. Twenty-two orbits. Then the warnings started.
A faulty sensor said the capsule was falling. It wasn’t. He switched it off.
Then a short circuit killed the automated guidance system. The system that kept the ship oriented. The system that was supposed to bring him home.
Come in too shallow and the capsule skips off the atmosphere into the void. Come in too steep and it burns. The margin was fractions of a degree. Every computer built to hit that margin was dead.
Cooper didn’t panic.
He drew reference lines on his window with a grease pencil.
He lined them up with the horizon. He used the stars he had memorized before launch. He set his wristwatch.
He did the math in his head. Held the angle by eye. And when the moment came, he fired the retrorockets himself.
The sky turned to fire. Plasma cut all communication. No radio. No radar. Just a man inside a fireball, trusting a pencil, a watch, and the stars.
Then the parachutes opened.
Faith 7 splashed down in the Pacific four miles from the recovery carrier — the most accurate landing in the Mercury program.
The last backup system was never the software.
It was him. 🇺🇸🚀

Earlier this year, my husband Abraham was diagnosed with a very rare bone cancer. This has been a challenging time for us and is hard to talk about. But so many of you have reached out asking how he’s doing, and sharing your prayers and well wishes with us. We made this video to share a little about what this journey has been like, and to update you on his recovery. Mahalo for all of the love and support 🙏🏽
California politicians wanted to make sure fast-food employees earned their “fair share”—and that’s when 557,000 workers across 30,000 restaurants got an economic reality check.
Delivering on basic infrastructure needs has been my priority since I was first elected in 2000. We broke ground on the final phase of Bloomington’s water infrastructure, supported by $2 million I secured to ensure every Inland Empire community is safe and prepared for the future.
For too long, Bloomington has been left behind, but that is finally changing. We are fulfilling the promise of safe, quality, and reliable water for this community.

In honor of #DrinkingWaterWeek and #WaterAwarenessMonth, Officer Creek conducted an official Hydration Check at West Valley Water District. 💧🚨
Although it was just a drill… the results were telling.
- One arrest was made for non-compliance - Two warnings issued for thinking coffee counts as hydration
Overall, WVWD employees are remaining hydrated.
You might catch Officer Creek out in the streets this month, so consider this your warning to stay hydrated. 💙💧#mywvwd #hydration #drinkingwaterweek
@Mark_T_Willard@sportslarryk@PerThirtySixers@sportslarryk just further proof that whoever is drafting on the late rounds should be in charge of the whole draft and whoever is doing the early rounds (Kyle, John, etc) should be locked in a closet till it is all over.
This Tylenol story is the perfect case study:
- Liberals will oppose anything Trump supports, no matter what.
- You don't hate the mainstream media enough.
They told you the FOOD PYRAMID was science. It was corn subsidies.
They told you SUNSCREEN was protection. It was chemical dependency.
They told you SEED OILS were “heart healthy.” It was industrial waste.
And you still believe they told you the truth about the mRNA vaccines?
When academic research supports pharmaceutical interests, it is labeled as The Science™️ which cannot be questioned.
When academic research opposes pharmaceutical interests, it is labeled as "preliminary" and "uncertain."
The media is complicit in this game.
@ianbremmer@MarkHalperin@seanspicer two things can be true. There is violence on both sides and it can also be disproportionately distribted. Violence to silence speech tends to be more accepted by chance ne side over the other.
