@ChunCuiJingYan I think that everyone (except maybe the most dyed in the wool Dengists) recognizes deep down that those great “scholars of Marxism” couldn’t actually lead a revolution today. Even if China was socialist it has no lessons on how to actually make revolution.
@Charlotte_Stein@vickrussotakes@Carzonfye In the sense that “stopping the men responsible” (the majority of the population in the West is in fact also responsible) and “curbing [our] footprint” are intertwined actions.
@Charlotte_Stein@vickrussotakes@Carzonfye A revolutionary government focused on environmental restoration/protection and justice will inevitably produce a good deal of discomfort in the West as it cuts emissions while also assisting the GS in developing as sustainably as possible.
@EOfmonday@GodKingJustice 90%+ of Black immigrants integrate themselves into New Afrika within a single generation, so that wouldn’t really be an issue even if the struggle for liberation wasn’t internationalist.
@kaffetheyapper@BolshevikBeyond Well, imperialism was also granted a major spatial fix around that time. Of course, it probably has a couple more hypothetical spatial fixes left so your point still stands.
@YuriGaggins@Forever_noir_ The point you are missing is that the US should cease to exist as a unified entity (whether or not the states that arise on it will consensually and democratically re-unite into a new political unit is a matter for the future).
@KhalduniaColl@Aevorinth Almost every example of balkanization involved separating regions that were massively dependent on some of the functions of the larger entity.
@BolshevikBeyond The labor aristocracy and petit-bourgeoise are more than capable of engaging in violent unrest. The question is whether or not it can be turned towards revolutionary ends. Historically, that answer has been “no” whenever that classes finds itself leading in whatever struggle.
@BolshevikBeyond It isn’t just their current situation (which as college students is transitional), it’s their background and expected socio-economic trajectory. Objectively the bulk of the (white) French populace is labor-aristocratic in character, so it follows that students from…
@BolshevikBeyond Well, that is pretty much the contradiction the comment was highlighting. Classes (identified by social investigation) can generally be predicted/expected to act in certain ways in particular circumstances, otherwise Marxism as a science falls apart.
@BolshevikBeyond In their theoretical outlook (one I mostly share), the latter along with nationally oppressed peoples make up the primary revolutionary subject in the imperial core that at best can lead a downwardly-mobile section of the labor aristocracy.
@BolshevikBeyond Knowing the person that made this comment, petit-bourgeois is synonymous with “labor aristocratic” (or more accurately the latter is a sub-class within the former) and lumpen are masses that have been excluded from the normal cycle of capital (outside of perhaps gig work).
@onomatopoeiatwt I am sympathetic to that view. When faced with all-encompassing evangelicalism, standard Catholicism appears far more refreshing than it really may be.
