Un grupo de empresas europeas, entre ellas Nextcloud, IONOS y Proton, ha lanzado Euro-Office, una suite de productividad de código abierto pensada como alternativa independiente a Microsoft Office.

Esta herramienta incluye procesador de textos, hojas de cálculo, presentaciones y editor de PDF, y es totalmente compatible con los formatos habituales de Office como DOCX o XLSX.

Su principal objetivo es garantizar la soberanía de datos en Europa, asegurando que toda la información se gestione exclusivamente dentro de países del continente, sin depender de proveedores externos.

Se trata de una versión bifurcada de OnlyOffice. El proyecto está todavía en fase inicial, con una versión preliminar disponible en GitHub, y se espera que la primera versión estable llegue a finales de verano de 2026.
