More than two decades in the trenches. Marine Corps. Cyber. Infrastructure. Security engineering. Building things that have to work when it matters.
Three threads run through everything here. Code. Conscience. What happens when you stop pretending one does not affect the other.

DORA is my favorite way to measure team maturity.
It tracks:
1. Deploy Frequency
2. Change Lead Time
3. Change Failure Rate
4. Failed Deploy Recovery Time
And it’s easier than ever to capture. Just tell your LLM.
Here's a sample of what Claude collected for me.
@emiliemc this is outrageous. You launch options trading. And then you arbitrarily disallow paying customers the capability with some nonsensical response. This is no way to be running the everything exchange.

.@brian_armstrong@coinbase WTF is going on?
I applied for options trading, was approved, and executed my first trade.
Five trading days later, I went to place another trade only to discover my privileges had been REVOKED.
The explanation?
“That message was sent in error, and we’re sorry for the confusion.”
And now I’m told I can’t even REAPPLY until November 6, with no guarantee of approval.
Are you serious?
You approved me, allowed me to trade real money, then pulled access without warning or a substantive explanation. Now I’m supposed to sit on the sidelines for an entire month?
I’m a paying Coinbase One customer, a $COIN shareholder, and a believer in the vision of the Everything Exchange.
But what good is an everything exchange if customers can’t rely on the permissions they’ve been granted?
Trust, consistency, and transparency aren’t optional in financial markets.
This is unacceptable. Fix it.
People seem shocked that the author of Clean Code doesn't read code anymore. But that should not be surprising.
Why did I write Clean Code? What is the goal of keeping code clean? To get it out of the way of the real job -- thinking.
Unpopular opinion...
Opus 4.6 (pre nerf) from a SWE was the goat. These models today while may be better at conceptual better complex architecture design, UI design, etc., however overly create complexity now, often take short cuts, don't fully implement or test, second guess and refactor, and respond back with difficult responses that take time to discern and figure out.
With these models getting smarter and "better", I don't see SWE jobs getting any easier or faster or less complex.
@pmddomingos@realDonaldTrump I agree with a lot of what you share. This is not one of them. We don't have to look far, though, to see your partiality on this @pmddomingos
“If you can build a verification system and give proper direction, AI can produce a highly complex, highly sophisticated piece of software and it can continue to refine it until it just works.”
This is the job now.
I think the release of Bun 1.4 marks the end of programming as we know it. Anthropic and OpenAI developers live in the near future and if we pay attention, it's what's coming for the rest of us by next year: https://t.co/zD9ZDfhVAV
@HackingDave Very large features usually means a very large spec. How are you going about ensuring you grok the very large feature while also not becoming the bottleneck?
