"The China Shock destroyed millions of American manufacturing jobs."
At least that's a claim.
But prices connect everyone. When you shock one part of the market, the "control" group moves.
Today we have 3,000 words on "The Missing Intercept" problem.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I am thrilled to start my career at @MSUEconomics. I look forward to working with everyone here and contributing to our great department!
To be clear:
1.) This is NOT an annual fee. It’s a one-time fee that applies only to the petition.
2.) Those who already hold H-1B visas and are currently outside of the country right now will NOT be charged $100,000 to re-enter.
H-1B visa holders can leave and re-enter the country to the same extent as they normally would; whatever ability they have to do that is not impacted by yesterday’s proclamation.
3.) This applies only to new visas, not renewals, and not current visa holders.
It will first apply in the next upcoming lottery cycle.
@gp_mihalache It depends. The skill list, which describes who are subject to the home residency requirements, were significantly shortened last year. Chinese scholars are no longer subject to it unless in receipt of government funding.
SUMMARY OF H-1B EXECUTIVE ORDER
- ENTRY BAN: No H-1B visa holder may enter the United States beginning Sunday September 21st, including current visa holders, unles they pay $100K to enter.
- VISA FEE: New H-1B and H-1B extensions must pay 100K to be processed and 100K per year every year thereafter to maintain them.
This will effectively end the H-1B program completely. No one, even the highest paid at 500K will be paying an extra 100K a year to the government.
It will destroy the health care, higher education, and technology sectors as we know them if this isn't struck down in court.
