there is no disease that has been beaten by shame. in the case of hiv a lot of people worked tirelessly and thanklessly to actively refuse shame. shame does not develop vaccinations, shame does not support communities, shame did not create modern sexual health care
A dj on the local college radio station was like “I found a bunch of my dad’s old cds and made a mix for today” and played the shins, the pixies, modest mouse, death cab, postal service and the strokes
ouuuuuuu, generic white boy with generic HS accomplishments didn’t get into a prestigious school? Of course this lady’s only explanation has gotta be “woke gatekeeping.” My students at state schools have similar stats to this, and often even better.
Anyway I always have to laugh at the comments on this type of post, which are inevitably a bunch of white gen X/boomer cuspers who haven’t been anywhere near a college campus in decades unironically going “it’s so unfair to be discriminated against for the color of my skin 😔”
@PopSarah @billiewhiteclaw As well, “female” is frequently associated with incel type dudes who use it with the intent to dehumanize women. And as well, often used by racists to dehumanize women of color. There are lots of reasons the word has gained a negative connotation.
@PopSarah @billiewhiteclaw I’m not attaching shame to language; I’m just answering your original question about why some people interpret the use of “female” as transphobic. That’s not to say it is always the case that “female” is transphobic, just that certain people deploy it with transphobic intent.
