Congratulations and deep gratitude to the @JustRightsIndia legal team led by our lead counsel and Senior Advocate @hsphoolka ji, along with Advocates Rachna Tyagi and colleagues, who have once again rewritten the judicial process in how courts respond to victims of #childsexualabuse. This moment has firmly placed both moral and judicial accountability on the #Bench to uphold a #victimfirst approach. We are grateful to the Bench for inviting recommendations from the #JustRightsforChildren team to strengthen judicial awareness and help institutionalise a culture where justice remains the first and guiding principle.

Child marriage can end only when the ecosystem that sustains it is dismantled, when laws are enforced, and when #childmarriage is recognised for what it is: #childrape. What we are witnessing now is the system responding with intent and enforcement: girls refusing to be married, communities intervening, courts enforcing the law, and elected representatives being removed for violations. This is coordinated justice closing in on this #crimeagainstchildren. @JustRightsIndia

आज अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मानवाधिकार दिवस पर बदलाव की उम्मीद जिंदा है। #बालविवाहमुक्तभारत अभियान ने समाज को नई दिशा दी है। देशभर में बाल विवाह रोके जा रहे हैं। जब समाज कहता है बस, अब और नहीं, इस गंभीर अपराध का अंत आज से, अभी से शुरू होता है।

यह याद रखना जरूरी है कि बाल विवाह सिर्फ सामाजिक बुराई नहीं, बच्चों के भविष्य पर सीधा वार है। यह विवाह की आड़ में बच्चों के साथ बलात्कार है। सैकड़ों बेटियां आज भी 18 साल की उम्र से पहले ब्याही जा रहीं हैं। लेकिन 2030 से पहले बच्चों के खिलाफ इस अपराध का खत्म होना तय है।

Since the launch of the #BalVivahMuktBharat campaign last year, @JustRightsIndia partners have stopped or prevented more than 1,00,000 child marriages across India. Today, on the occasion of the commencement of the 100 Days of Intensive Awareness Campaign, #WePledge to support the Government of India, State Governments, District Administrations and Panchayats to make 1,00,000 villages child marriage free in high prevalence districts to advance this national mission. When all of society comes together, change becomes inevitable.

Thank you, Lavu Krishna Garu, for the introduction of a Private Member’s Bill to strengthen the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006. @SriKrishnaLavu

This is a long overdue intervention to ensure accountability and create the deterrence needed to build a #ChildMarriageFreeIndia. Graded punishments, the criminalisation of betrothal and attempt to marry, the appointment of designated Child Marriage Prohibition Officers, special courts for fast track trials, and robust reporting mechanisms are the sustainable measures needed to end child marriage by 2030. I commend your leadership as Convenor of the MPs for Children platform, rallying parliamentarians across party lines to keep child protection at the centre of the national agenda. I appeal to all MPs to pass this with the urgency that it demands.

आज हम एक ऐसे दौर से गुज़र रहे हैं, जहां हम इतिहास पढ़ नहीं रहे हैं, इतिहास बना रहे हैं। जहां दुनिया के कई देश बाल विवाह से जुड़े क़ानूनों को कमज़ोर कर रहे हैं, वहीं भारत आज बाल विवाह के अंत की ओर बढ़ रहा है। यह संभव हुआ क्योंकि भारत ने एक स्पष्ट दिशा, एक मज़बूत प्रतिबद्धता और एक अडिग नेतृत्व को चुना।

यदि भारत आज बच्चों की सुरक्षा में विश्वगुरु बनने की राह पर अग्रसर है, तो इसकी वजह आदरणीय प्रधानमंत्री श्री @narendramodi जी का मार्गदर्शन है।
