Respected @ncbn garu, @naralokesh garu, and @PawanKalyan garu.
For nearly a decade, AP State Agriculture and allied Universities have not conducted regular faculty recruitment. During this period, thousands of highly qualified PhD scholars and NET-qualified candidates have been waiting for opportunities to serve in teaching, research, and extension.
In this context, the decision to increase the superannuation age from 62 to 65 years in ANGRAU is deeply concerning. While it may retain experienced faculty for a few more years, it simultaneously blocks the entry of young researchers and scholars who have spent years pursuing doctoral education and postdoctoral training with the hope of contributing to academia.
Universities are institutions where generational balance is crucial. Senior faculty bring experience, but young faculty bring new ideas, modern research approaches, technological adaptability, and global exposure. Delaying recruitment and extending retirement age reduces this healthy academic transition and slows institutional renewal.
Moreover, with 900+ Assistant Professor vacancies already existing in AP State Farm Universities, thousands of PhD graduates remain unemployed despite being fully qualified. Increasing the retirement age without filling these vacancies further postpones recruitment cycles, discouraging talented youth from pursuing academic careers.
This decision also affects the morale of university job aspirants, many of whom have spent 10–15 years in higher education and research, often beyond the typical career timeline, with the hope of securing faculty positions.
Therefore, we humbly request the government to reconsider the extension of superannuation age and instead prioritize immediate recruitment to fill the 900+ vacant Assistant Professor posts. This will strengthen universities, encourage young scholars, and ensure the future of agricultural education and research in Andhra Pradesh.
We respectfully request your kind intervention in the interest of academic growth, youth employment, and the future of higher education in the state.
Appeal from AP_State Agriculture and Allied Universities PG and PhD graduates and scholars.
