@WaveConnects So, I heard an incredibly loud bang and now have no Internet access. I'm at 15th and Union in Seattle. Any word on what happened and an ETA for recovering access? Thanks!
👏 @maersk earned a B grade on our Decarbonization Report Card, but they must do a lot more to reach their goal of zero emissions by 2040:
RT to call on @maersk to:
✔️ implement more green infrastructure
✔️ decrease emissions
✔️ increase public reporting
🚨@cmacgm (the top shipping supplier for @Walmart) earned a D by continuing to invest in LNG-powered ships — a FOSSIL FUEL — to curb emissions.
This is 70-82% WORSE for the climate than ships powered with heavy fuel oil.
RT to call out their #greenwashing!
With all of these white people trying to so hard to end slavery, including Washington, Jefferson, Hamilton, the Continental Congress, who was this alien force that stopped them from until the Civil War? You won't find that in the standards. No perpetrator is ever named.
@HIPRC Helmets are great, and thanks for helping people make sure they have helmets that fit and meet safety requirements! However, helmets are no longer required by law in Seattle.
Here again @ezraklein in @nytopinion willfully ignores the obvious point: “permitting reform” that expedites all projects, including pollution ones, in all communities, including #environmentaljustice ones, is bad. 🧵

SDOT is releasing their first public draft of this plan this summer. We’re eagerly awaiting a plan that lays out how we can achieve this *wildly supported* vision for Seattle by prioritizing safety, equity & sustainability in our transportation system and on our streets.
• 92% want to have the option to ride transit on long trips across the city
• Driving? Only 10% want to have the option to drive for short trips in the future & only 29% on long trips
Driving is currently a necessity for a lot of people, but it's not the future we want.
Guess what?
95% of respondents want “rapid progress” towards goals & “transformational changes to our transportation system”, with an image that includes bike lanes, bus lanes, people walking and rolling, bus stops, street trees, and more.😍
Thank you for supporting HB 1513. Signing in pro is the ask, and bonus points for asking your friends, family, and total strangers to do so too. Here is the link in case you missed it. https://t.co/Qf8Cd4MztY
We need folks to sign in PRO on the traffic safety bill - HB 1513. This bill isn't about orange cones and visibility or no right on red. It is about reducing interactions between community and the police for conduct that doesn't require an armed officer at your vehicle. 👇
We can begin to repair the harm from generations of discriminatory housing policies. Show your support in just 30 seconds by "signing in pro" for these two bills. Help us reach our goal of 1000 supporters!

@typewriteralley Generally I agree that automated cameras are better for all the reasons. But someone traveling 70 in a 35 zone needs to be slowed now, not ticketed later; such speeding poses an immediate threat to others' safety.
Best would be speed controls built into cars.
@typewriteralley I found it fascinating (annoying? bizarre?) that the article referred to this region as an isolated corner of the country. wtf? With a busy port, working rail lines, and interstate highways, we're not exactly a plane-dependent Alaskan island.
THE CONCEPT OF JAYWALKING WAS INVENTED BY CAR COMPANIES TO SHIFT THE BLAME FOR CRASHES ONTO PEDESTRIANS AND ENFORCEMENT DISPROPORTIONATELY TARGETS MINORITIES & UNHOUSED FOLKS. AND YOU COULD LITERALLY SIGN AB 2147 AND DECRIMINALIZE IT TODAY.
Call me radical, but I don't think anyone walking through our city should *ever* have to stop and wait for people in climate controlled living rooms. This is even more true in the cold and rain when moving generates warmth.
@beadagainstfash Recently the city of Seattle swept unhoused people from a park considered sacred Indigenous land. People swept included an Indigenous person. Their caseworker wore a shirt “Native Americans were never homeless before 1492” as they took the person away 😳
