Dur Untash Study Center: Bonyadeh Mostazafan’ Foundation (Iranian governmental institution) demolished several houses in Abolnekhilat village near the capital city of #Ahwaz. As a result, 130 Ahwazis became homeless.

Hence, we shouldn’t be surprised to see Persian opposition media ‘trades on’ the unrest in #Ahwaz by labeling it as an ‘Iranian’ uprising against the current regime rather than Arab protests with clear pro-independence sentiment

Unsurprisingly nothing was mentioned about the unrest in #Ahwaz in Dutch news about #IranFloods. Western media clearly relies on Iranian state owned/controlled media such as PressTV &Tasnim. However,is western media the only one to blame for the media blackout in #Ahwaz?

Surely not! Beside the Iranian occupation, Ahwazis bare a share of responsibility for ‘maintaining’ the media blackout. The fragile Ahwazi community in Europe failed to reorganize itself and form an alternative media source for either the Persian opposition or state owned media

Fun facts: when AIVD resealed a statement about Iran’s involvement in my father’s murder back on January 8th,my phone exploded because of journalist’s calls & messages. But now, no one of them responds to my messages about the floods and unrest in #Ahwaz.

@IranNW It’s so funny to see Persian media mistranslating the chants. In this video protestors shout:’#Ahwaz Free Free,Persians Out Out’. But these chants never get translated correctly because Persians in power or in the opposition never admit Ahwazi people’s desire for independence
