“Bottom sets” are also the groups teachers “don’t enjoy” teaching. Schools that reject teaching "mixed-ability" classes have a moral imperative to evaluate approaches to teaching low prior attaining pupils. We have seen these pupils achieve at the highest levels at our school.

Ofsted will be using workbook scrutinies to arrive at a judgement about how the curriculum is being enacted in practice. In principal this makes sense. How are schools using currently using book scrutinies - to discuss the curriculum being taught and the best ways of teaching it?
