🚨 José Mourinho on Manchester City verdict: “I’d rather have a bit of a laugh about it…”.
“Being in my 60s, I’ll have to be lucky enough still to be here when the final verdict arrives”.
“Now a ruling will come, then an appeal… I’ll be 80!”, Mourinho told @CorSport.
UK Prime minister Andy Burnham announces the British government's plan to tackle rising energy prices: from today, UK drivers can consult the cost of gasoline and diesel at nearby forecourts on Google Maps. 🤔
On Wednesday, I traveled to the Pnyx, a hillside overlooking the towering columns of the Acropolis in Athens.
There, I delivered a simple message: The West is at a crossroads. The decisions we make in the next decade will define the next century.

In the literal back row at the @Conservatives conference after being delayed at the hotel so I could be on @Iromg's show to talk all things energy
It's been a busy month, speaking at Fringe events at @reformparty_uk last month and @UKLabour last week before coming here
Energy is, rightly, a hot topic. How we provide affordable, secure and clean energy is a critical question
Too many businesses are closing due to high energy prices. Too many industries are being lost overseas, offshoring emissions to places with dirtier energy
And too many families are struggling to afford basic heating
We need a rational energy policy that doesn't prefer virtue signalling over doing the right thing
Offshoring emissions is NOT the right thing. It's bad for the environment, bad for the UK economy, bad for British jobs and bad for the communities where these industries go, which are too often in countries that not only have dirty energy, but weak environmental controls, poor worker safety standards and even child and forced labour
Polluting other people's environments is not virtuous. Pretending we're reducing emissions when we're actually increasing them is dishonest and unethical
Energy policy needs to be based on accurate data and evidence. Not ideology. Not wishful thinking. Not some dream of a green utopia that has no foundation in reality
Ministers need to clearly articulate the tradeoffs and ensure public consent for their policies
Don't ask if people care about the environment and then take this as permission to turn the electricity grid into an expensive unreliable monster that creaks when it's not windy or sunny
Explain how much renewables cost, what levels of energy security may have to be sacrificed, whether people will be allowed to cool as well as heat their homes, whether they will be forced to travel less whether by car or plane
Don't slip huge reductions in mobility into carbon budgets nobody reads
Don't pretend a grid NESO cannot model properly (because it can't see or control the huge amounts of solar and batteries connected to low voltage grids) is robust and will remain so
Don't lie about the costs and accuse then anyone challenging them of climate denial
Don't pretend moving emissions to a poorer country is good for the planet and definitely don't pretend it's ethical to assist in the exploitation of people who are forced to work in unsafe conditions or that we can build a "just transition" on the backs of literal slaves
