I am deeply proud and honoured to start my tenure as Director-General/Executive Director of the UN Office at Vienna/@UNODC.
I look forward to leading the @UN’s work in addressing the challenges of drugs, organized crime, corruption and terrorism, for a safer and more just world.
Tonight in Nairobi, we gather not only to celebrate the enduring bonds between Africa and France, but also to usher in a bold new era of partnership anchored in shared prosperity, mutual respect, and opportunity for our citizens.
At State House Nairobi, I had the honour of hosting a State Banquet for the Heads of State and Government attending the inaugural Africa Forward Summit 2026.
On behalf of the Government and the people of Kenya, I extend a warm welcome and deepest appreciation for your presence, engagement, and commitment to advancing a stronger and more prosperous future for Africa and its global partners.
May this summit strengthen our common resolve and deepen the spirit of cooperation that unites us.
Karibuni Kenya.
Broke ground for the construction of the expanded United Nations Office at Nairobi Assembly Hall, Gigiri, and inaugurated the new United Nations Office block alongside UN Secretary-General @antonioguterres.
Speaking at the inauguration of the United Nations Nairobi Expansion Project in Gigiri, UN Secretary-General António Guterres criticised the global financial system for forcing African countries to pay borrowing costs three times higher than those of developed nations, despite some having stronger financial stability and growth prospects. Guterres also called for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council and a stronger voice for Africa within the IMF and World Bank.
Nairobi today reinforced its place at the heart of global diplomacy and climate action during a landmark moment at the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON).
Joined H.E. President @WilliamsRuto and H.E. @antonioguterres, Secretary-General of the @UN, for the groundbreaking of the new UN Conference Facilities Project and the commissioning of completed phases of the Gigiri Master Plan, as the Africa Forward Summit officially commenced.
This milestone reinforces Kenya’s growing role as a global centre for multilateral diplomacy, climate action and international cooperation. Since joining the United Nations in 1963, Kenya has continued to strengthen Nairobi’s standing as home to @UNEP, @UNHABITAT and more than 70 UN agencies, funds and programmes.
The expansion and modernisation of UNON reflects a shared commitment to building a more effective and responsive United Nations system in advancing peace, sustainable development and climate resilience.
