It is August & #mets starters at limited to 70-80 pitches or less. Why do none of the media guys question this? Their minor league starters go deeper.
As Mendoza watches as his starter melts down, I wonder what ever happened to the concept of the "long man" in the pen? Today's mgrs think a parade of 5 guys pitching an inning a piece every day makes sense somehow.
@threeinningfan Calling this "terrible news" is ridiculous. Catching this in the act is good news for the integrity of the game in the age of legal sports gambling.
@SeanFennessey If you think that's bad, (and it Is) try listening to Boog on ESPN radio. Like listening to paint dry. But still better than Ravich...by far
@DanBartels2 One man's opinion - with a week until the REAL trade deadline these posts about hypothetical trades are simply spam. Most of us only care about actual moves. Grow up.
@metsrewind@Mets Cleon's 1969 was an incredible season. Hitting .340 in a year when pitching was dominant. Amazingly, he never came close to repeating it.
@just_mets 1. Each bullpen guy was shaky. 2. It appeared that Pop had just begun warming as Alonso hit into dp to end the inning. 3. Mets going with bullpen game tomorrow vs Fried...unlikely to need Diaz. Are those enough reasons? LOL
@nypostsports@martinonyc I wish these guys would adopt the Aaron Glenn approach. Shut the hell up!
Anyone notice that Nunez talked about how great he felt & then in his next appearance, he needs tommy john surgery?
@kennesawdawg97@JomboyMedia I agree it was as close a "bang bang" play as possible. But that is all the more reason to take a moment before calling it (either way). I'm not ranking on the call, but the WAY the guy made the call...anticipating it.
@CaseyJ_516 Stroman dumps on each team he leaves. He's a classless jerk. Guaranteed once the Yankees are done with him, he will cry about how mistreated he was.
@PSLToFlushing I have to wonder if the Blackburn injury is connected to Mendoza sending him out to pitch after a long rain delay. I said at the time..."you should NEVER risk a guy's arm by doing that".
@mikemayer22 Alvarez is the latest example of how bad the pitching is in AAA. Another example is how bad EVERY AAA reliever the #Mets run out there is.
@MetsAvenue What all you 2nd guessers fail to notice... Earlier in the season, Holmes had low pitch counts in the early to mid innings. Of late, he's run up counts and walked more guys, creating higher stress. When over 90 pitches, gotten hit more. Put blame with bullpen, where it belongs.
