Big day over at the Guardian. They've uncovered a company paying its staff.

Today's exposé reveals Palantir's latest diabolical scheme: give employees shares, watch employees pay tax on them at HIGHER rates than corporation tax, hand the Treasury MORE money overall. As tax dodges go, I’ll admit it needs work.

The legal instrument behind this outrage? A relief introduced by the previous Labour Government to encourage employee ownership and collect more tax overall. The Guardian has bravely blown the whistle on the UK tax code.

As only the Grauniad can pull off, the facts that dismantle their own headline can be found at the bottom of the article: Palantir paid $148m in UK employment taxes last year.

@DanNeidle - who regularly seems to end actual tax avoiders' careers for sport - looked at this claim and called it “the worst tax avoidance scheme ever.”

We’ll await the Guardian’s correction with the usual confidence.

NEW - “Trailblazing” new tool to be rolled out across NHS through the Federated Data Platform powered by @Palantirtech.

This new tool has delivered a 13% increase in the number of cancer cases receiving a diagnosis within 28 days.

It will now sit alongside other tools that have delivered 70,000 extra operations and reduced delays to discharging patients from hospital when they are ready to leave by almost 19%.

It’s very exciting to see the FDP producing the results we always knew it would. Cancer360 was developed in partnership between @palantirtech, @NHSEngland and @ChelwestFT.

But there are thousands more products to be built, which the FDP will enable.

Because the FDP is a standard platform where each NHS Trust has its own version, it enables companies of all shapes and sizes, as well as Trusts themselves, to build new tools quickly and enable their rapid adoption in hospitals across the country.

This will speed up innovation across the NHS, reduce duplication of effort, and ensure the best tools are easily adopted and scaled.

This is how the NHS will use tech to solve myriad challenges over the coming years and get back to its rightful place as the envy of the world.

This was what I say at the start of #Peston tonight. It's on ITV at 10.45.

As a journalist I have spent more or less my entire career weighing up stories by whether they are truly in the public interest or just interesting to the public. This has been on my mind a lot, following the allegations in the Sun newspaper about a BBC presenter and a young person, and a relationship between them that their parents alleged was harmful and possibly illegal. Tonight we heard from the Met Police that it had found no evidence of criminality. Shortly afterwards Vicky Flind made a public statement that the presenter is her husband, one of the most famous presenters in the country Huw Edwards, with whom I worked very closely when I was at the bbc. What few of you will know is that Vicky Flind is the editor of this show, and the person who created it with me - though she hasn't been involved tonight or at all this week. The Labour MP Jess Phillips tonight described Vicky as the nicest, kindest and most decent woman. I and everyone who works with me here would agree. It has been difficult to feel what she and her family have been going through - and to read her statement that Huw has been hospitalised with acute depression. None of this is to minimise complaints that have been made against Huw - or to ignore the suggestion that people and their families may have been hurt. I don't know exactly what he did, or why. The question however is whether - if it remains clear as the police say no crime was committed - there was a public interest in publishing the original story and in the subsequent coverage. Though at this point Vicky would tell me to get on with the show. So we will.
