Allison Hope Liao, killed while holding her grandmother's hand in a crosswalk in Queens in 2013
In her case the driver was #1. Driving an SUV. #2. Had been drinking (but was not over the legal limit)
Our Crash Victims Rights and Safety Act is designed to address these risks 1/2

We’re advancing a package of 8 (!) bills in Albany this spring with @TransAlt that have the potential to usher in a new era of safety and justice for New Yorkers. These are exciting measures that have the potential to really move the needle and save lives. But we need your help!
Fun day at Queens Borough Hall #BikeJamboree handing out stickers, coloring books and other goodies to future #bikeNYC kiddies 🚴🏼♀️🚴🏽
+ informal poll with obvious result - people will bike more when there are safe bike routes & places to park your bike

In 2013, Families for Safe Streets founding member @amylcohen’s son Sammy was killed by a reckless driver. A year later, another child was struck on the same street. That child survived.
What changed?
The speed limit.
Miss our BIG REVEAL yesterday on HOW to reach #ZeroTrafficDeaths in U.S.? We’ll share some highlights in this BIG REVEAL thread. (And more here: https://t.co/qeTO5tGNL0)...
After a fatal crash, it's the victim's family that gets the life sentence--they will hurt forever--not the at-fault driver. Negligent drivers almost never get charged, even when driving in willful violation of the law. This isn't right @WisDOJ@DMkahn128#fatalcrash#love#grief
Our #ZeroTrafficDeaths campaign has now published SEVEN (!!) editorials since January in support of a #ZeroTrafficDeaths Goal by 2050.
This one by @amylcohen, who lost her 12yo son to a careless driver, and Rebecca Sonkin is worth rereading https://t.co/WbaPgKJkPO
Anyone want to see the mind-blowing #bikenyc numbers @Streetfilms collected at 1st Ave & 60th Street?
That intersection is one of the busiest in NYC for bikes, scooters and other wheeled devices.
EVERY person running for NYC office needs to watch. @bikenewyork@TransAlt
Barry, John, David & Nily:
I heard DMV is going to use 76th b/w Cloverdale and 226th as a road test site? If that’s the case, the current unsigned @NYC_DOT#bikeNYC route needs to become Protected ASAP. Our trail must remain safe for 8- to 80-year-olds.
So grateful to the 27 friends who came out to support @jxcnyc for city council. Special thanks to @joby_jacob who designed and led the ride and Xinya Li for designing our poster. Onwards to victory!
