I've made a habit of, after having an offer accepted, sending a note to my hiring panel thanking them for their time and talking about why I'm excited to have this person join us. This is a great idea. I should share these with the new hires.
Software systems include the developers and operators. If the humans don't know how to run an incident (or other realities of software in production), then THAT SYSTEM IS STILL VAPORWARE.
