In 2021, the average recipient was 76.3 years old. Almost two-thirds had cancer, 19% had cardiovascular conditions, 12% had neurological conditions and 8% had organ failure.

This is a humane, rational program that is working about as well as any government program can possibly work.

People hate it for religious reasons, and want to force others to suffer indefinitely for no good reason.

I see a lot of confusion about the EU–Canada relationship:

1. “Associate membership” is not a thing in EU law but
2. It can and should go beyond CETA.
3. It can hardly go beyond EEA-level integration.
4. The likely landing zone is somewhere around the EU–Switzerland model.

But the significance may lie elsewhere:

this modest new status could make the EU an institutional hub around which other democracies organise strategic autonomy, without joining the Union.

That is more consequential than “Europe + Canada against the US” and may unleash new relations with Uk and candidate countries -#canada

@DrewPavlou I would add that we should think about all those that have perished due to malnutrition, violence, or negligence in the time since 9/11. They don't get memorialized so often. For psychological and historical reasons, 9/11 sticks out in our memories.
