The EJC strongly condemns the disgraceful actions of Israeli minister of internal security Itamar Ben Gvir following his public humiliation of detained pro-Palestinian activists from a flotilla that had attempted to illegally enter Gaza.
This shocking display by the minister runs counter to Israeli and Jewish values and the rule of law and only grants legitimacy to a group of Hamas-supporting activists who have shockingly been turned into heroes by his reprehensible and counter-productive actions.
The EJC welcomes similar statements by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar which have clearly distanced themselves and the government from Ben Gvir’s antics.
The public humiliation and mocking of people arrested and about to be deported does nothing to enhance Israel’s security and has no place in a Jewish state. It diminishes the fight against terrorism and only gives succor to Israel’s worst enemies.
We share in the disgust and condemnation of the actions of Israeli minister Ben Gvir, including that expressed by Foreign Minister @gidonsaar and others in Israel. The mistreatment of these detainees is utterly inexcusable and inimical to our values.
Ben Gvir's actions time and again have trampled on the democratic principles on which Israel was founded. We call on all responsible authorities in Israel to ensure that the protection of Israeli security is conducted always in line with the rule of law.
Zero sympathy for the flotilla idiots — they sailed straight into the consequences they begged for.
But Itamar Ben-Gvir’s cringey little performance is straight-up disgraceful.
Strutting around like a playground tough guy, humiliating detained activists for the cameras? Brother, that doesn’t scare Hamas, doesn’t fix a single damn thing on security, and sure as hell doesn’t stop the murder rate exploding in our own streets while you play dress-up strongman.
All you’re doing is handing our enemies fresh propaganda gold on a platter and making Israel look like the caricature they already scream we are.
We’re better than this circus. Act like it.
You insist that you aren't allowed to criticize Israel without being called antisemitic.
Right now, Israelis are tearing into Ben Gvir.
No one's calling us antisemites.
But when you criticize Israel, you deny it should exist. When we do, we demand it be better.
Get it?
One thing I want to emphasise:
Don't use Ben Gvir's unhinged behaviour as an excuse to hate Jews, or promote anti-Jewish hate.
Ben Gvir is one individual, the people who support him are individuals, let's not do collective blame.
Even Prime Minister Netanyahu condemns Ben Gvir’s for his flotilla stunt…let that sink in.
“Israel has the full right to prevent flotillas of provocateur Hamas terror supporters from entering our territorial waters and reaching Gaza.
“However, the manner in which Minister Ben Gvir treated the flotilla activists is inconsistent with the values and norms of the State of Israel.“
If Ben Gvir isn’t doing his job well, maybe his boss should fire him.
Ben Gvir is a national embarrassment. Time and again, he’s behaved recklessly, inflamed tensions, and disgraced the State of Israel. He does not reflect the values of most Israelis. Fire him.
While you are reading this, the story of hidden medical harm continues.
Millions of women and families around the world may still be living with the consequences of a drug prescribed during pregnancy in the hope of preventing miscarriage.
That drug was Diethylstilbestrol, known simply as DES.
My father was a gynaecologist. He understood the medical literature before many others did. What he read changed the way he viewed my future, and perhaps explains some of the fierce protectiveness that shaped my childhood.
In A Life Lived Chronically, I tell the story of growing up as a DES Daughter and the ripple effects that followed through health, identity, family relationships, trauma, and ultimately a journey into criminology, rehabilitation, and advocacy.
This is more than a memoir.
It is a story of what happens when medicine gets it wrong, when silence follows, and when one woman decides to turn lived experience into purpose.
If you or someone you love was exposed to DES, or if you are interested in women's health, hidden medical harm, resilience, and social justice, this book may resonate with you.
📘 Available now in paperback, Kindle, and audiobook on Amazon.

@LeShuttle why is the train cancelled this afternoon, at 16.15? No explanation, no compensation, just people inconvenienced.
It's really poor customer service. Why couldn't you inform us via the app and we could have arrived later or stayed in the terminal longer.
In March 1948, Frank Sinatra helped Teddy Kollek, a Haganah representative (and future Jerusalem mayor), smuggle an estimated $1 million in cash to a New York pier to pay for arms destined for the nascent State of Israel. Sinatra acted as a courier to bypass FBI surveillance, ensuring the money reached a ship captain for undercover operations.
