In a time of personal and professional uncertainty, I started reading Principle Chief Wilma Mankiller’s autobiography. There is something calming about knowing that those before us have survived and done incredible work for our community in the face of both joy and hardship.
On this day in 1945, Wilma Pearl Mankiller was born. 💜 Wilma became the first woman elected as Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation and became an inspiration for generations of Cherokees — especially Cherokee women.
