One of Africa’s greatest environmentalists and biodiversity scientists has departed. He led with truth, integrity and humbleness. Privileged to have known this beautiful man.
RIP Dr Tewolde ❤️
Today we had a gathering with our MD doctors. These doctors served as interns for one solid year with no salary, not enough med, O2, food for pts &themselves. We their teachers are proud. God bless thier career. They are seen taking the Hippocratic oath. #tigraysiege#resilience
Where else on Earth is a govt denying 6m people access to their money by bank closures for 20 months & counting? This is happening in #Ethiopia.
This has eroded the ability of people under siege in #Tigray to access health, food & other basics for life.

CM @RepGregoryMeeks: I call on the Government of Ethiopia and Afar regional authorities to release @WFP trucks bound for Tigray immediately. The people of Tigray must not be denied this lifesaving food aid at a time when it is needed most. 1/2
I urge Ethiopian and Afar authorities to take immediate action to allow @WFP trucks to pass into Tigray to deliver much-needed food assistance. This is an avoidable famine, and the top priority should be saving lives. Thanks to @WFP staff for their heroic efforts in the field.
In Addis Ababa, there have been mass arbitrary arrests of Tigrayans. Many remain in detention without due process and the whereabouts of others are unknown. This injustice must end.
@AbiyAhmedAli, immediately end this wave of arbitrary arrests. https://t.co/Q8eHHiKOhc
Abiy is saying on National TV the people of Tigray are the real enemy, citing the wanton destruction of Tigray as a success. This is an open admission of genocidal intent for the acts of mass killings, rapes and starvation. He needs to be held accountable.
@zinash_hiwot @DerilloEyob I thought you have been supporting what these politicians have been doing in Tigray for the past 5 months or so. Min siwedu kene neftu new yemibalew. Anyways, I don't think it is possible to get rid of politicians by any means.
It’s not often that the prestigious @FT does such emotive coverage - it’s a measure of the depth of the humanitarian outrage over the #Tigray conflict. Great reporting from @AndresSchipani https://t.co/LMi37Wohnv via @financialtimes
