He spent years in an embassy and then a prison, and the country that lectures the world about press freedom led the effort to destroy him.

Meanwhile the people who lied about weapons of mass destruction and launched a war that killed hundreds of thousands:

They are on the speaking circuit.

They are on television as analysts.

They have libraries named after them.

This is not a paradox. This is the system working correctly.

Free speech, in the empire's operating definition, means you can say anything that doesn't threaten the machine.

The moment the speech has real consequences for real power:

So when you read about eight members of an NBC News Team being beaten by Israeli settlers today in the West Bank, it's important to note two things:

1. The settler wouldn't do this to Americans had they not received a green light from the Israeli gov.
2. Israel's gov would not have given such a green light unless it felt confident that the US gov - and Amb. Huckabee - wouldn't lift a finger to defend the Americans.

Laura Bicker, BBC China correspondent, on the disaster at Gyirong Port on the Nepal–Xizang border: “Shocking footage isn’t being shown in China – and we know little about victims there.”

Numerous people in China have pointed out that the footage is, in fact, all over Chinese platforms; indeed, the very video in the BBC’s own report was released by the Chinese port authorities. So the sequence is: 1) the Chinese state published the clip; 2) the BBC ran the clip; 3) the BBC published a story about how the Chinese state is suppressing the clip.

@AndyBxxx has made another point worth noting: Chinese media doesn’t operate on the basis of “if it bleeds, it leads”. You won’t see grieving relatives and footage of bodies looped for 24 hours. The BBC treats the absence of disaster pornography as evidence of a cover-up rather than a different (and frankly much better) editorial culture.

The article concedes that Beijing has launched “a massive rescue operation involving hundreds of emergency workers”. Even the International Campaign for Tibet, an NED-sponsored Washington-based lobby group, is recorded here “praising the work of first responders”. Xi Jinping personally chaired an emergency meeting to coordinate it. Chinese media has provided “daily updates on the missing and the dead”, plus updates on the rescue operation and on the barrier lake at risk of overflowing. It has shown rescue teams scaling mountains and cliff faces and crossing raging rivers.

Premier Li Qiang was “quickly dispatched to the region” – a level of responsiveness from the top leadership that those of us in the West can only dream of. Compare for example the US response to Hurricane Katrina, or the British government’s response to the Grenfell disaster. From all of that, the article arrives at the phrase “muted response” 🤷🏽

The BBC reports that local CPC members have been asked to step up and help with relief efforts, and provide “emotional guidance or psychological support to affected residents”. This is predictably framed as an operation to “stem any signs of discontent”.

Our intrepid reporter finally reveals her motive with a single clause: “Tibet, which Beijing annexed in the 1950s”. A-ha. It turns out this is a story about British state media, not Chinese state media.

Tibet has been part of China since the 13th century. Taking advantage of the chaos of the collapse of the Qing dynasty, the British invaded Tibet in 1904, at which point they came up with the formula of recognising Chinese “suzerainty” over Tibet while asserting that the region was “independent in internal administration” – which de facto meant that the British could do whatever they wanted there. Incidentally, Britain didn’t abandon that formula until 2008, when it finally recognised China’s sovereignty over the region.

If the BBC is going to insist on a formulation of “Tibet, which Beijing annexed”, it should, for the sake of consistency, also refer to “Cornwall, which London annexed”, since this took place around the same time as Tibet’s absorption into the Yuan Dynasty.

The article goes on to repeat tired tropes about “the Chinese government oppressing and persecuting Tibetans”, albeit without going into the nature of this oppression, which includes raising literacy levels from 5 percent to 98 percent; 15 years’ publicly funded education; the highest per capita central government transfers in China; the elimination of absolute poverty; the provision of modern infrastructure, health care and social services; and impressive efforts to protect and promote Tibetan language and culture.

What doesn’t get a single mention is the cause of the disaster. This was a flash flood in the fastest-warming mountain range on earth, in a region where glacial lakes are multiplying and bursting. There is a genuine story here about climate change coming for the Himalayas and the hundreds of millions who depend on their rivers, but the BBC instead chooses to run with the usual anti-China rubbish.

Solidarity with the people of China and Nepal affected by this disaster, and with everyone working to save them. And shame on a state broadcaster that chooses slander over solidarity.

Imagine shooting a mother and toddler but that's hat @IDF did and, not content with that, they shot at anyone trying to rescue them. You can see the child moving slightly and twitching in pain. The Israelis who do this are savage beasts and should not be made welcome at any holiday destination. Remember this video and be glad you are not part of this beastly genocidal state. When Israel collapses, and it is imploding right now, we are going to have to wonder who will take in the Israelis. The Palestinians welcomed them in their boats after WWII - but it would be a naive nation that would roll out the red carpet for some of these beasts.

The veterans sleeping on the street are the most honest image America produces.

The man who was told he was "defending freedom."

Who was sent to make the example.

Who came back with a body full of what making examples costs.

And was then subjected to the same framework he was used to enforce:

"Your survival is your problem. The market has spoken. You should have made better choices."

The empire thanks you for your service.

The empire does not guarantee your housing.

The empire does not guarantee your mental health care.

The empire does not guarantee that the ideology you were sent to kill and die for will be applied to you when you come home broken.

The veteran on the street is not a contradiction of American values.

He is their fullest domestic expression.

Used and discarded by the same logic that uses and discards populations abroad.

The only difference is he believed the story.

He believed he was the main character.

He came home to discover he was always expendable.

Just like everyone else the machine has ever touched.

I would like to see that in the United States.

Not in Kathmandu.

Not in Jakarta.

But in Washington, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles.

Do Nepalese and Indonesians have more courage for regime change than Americans?

At least they fill the streets.

At least they throw their rage at the palace.

At least they believe, even if naively, that history is still theirs to touch.

And America?

The so-called land of the free?

It cannot even lift a finger against its own masters.

Americans watch their leaders send trillions to war,

While their own schools rot,

Their hospitals collapse,

Their cities crumble into fentanyl graveyards.

They know their country is ruled not by presidents but by donors.

They know their votes are shredded by lobbyists before the ballot boxes are even opened.

They know their police protect banks, not people.

They know their children will die with debt, not with dignity.

And still they do nothing.

They laugh at "corrupt" leaders abroad,

But their own leaders auction policies to the highest bidder.

They pity the "naïve" youth of Nepal or Indonesia,

Yet their own youth are pacified with Netflix, pornography, and antidepressants.

Americans mock the protester abroad as a pawn.

But what are they themselves?

Slaves who dare not riot.

Slaves who dare not revolt.

Slaves who mistake complaining on Twitter for defiance.

At least a Nepali will burn a palace gate.

At least an Indonesian will flood the streets.

But an American?

He will grumble in his cubicle,

Refresh his bank app,

And dream about the next election like a gambler waiting for a rigged wheel to spin in his favor.

This is the true shame of America:

It is not that its empire corrupts others.

It is that its empire has already broken its own people.

No memory.

No courage.

No rebellion.

Only sedation.

So ask again: who has more balls?

The villagers in Kathmandu who march, even when manipulated?

The workers in Jakarta who strike, even when infiltrated?

Or the American citizen,

Too frightened to even imagine toppling the parasites who drain him daily?

The answer is clear.

Nepalese and Indonesians may be naïve.

But Americans are neutered.

Western NGOs didn’t just block Nepal’s dams. They built the political class that still can’t protect the country—and the last “revolution” was their handiwork.

Today’s flash flood catastrophe on the Nepal-China border—dozens dead, hundreds missing, villages and infrastructure erased—exposes the same pattern.
For decades Western NGOs and their funders (USAID, NED and the usual network of “civil society” outfits) systematically blocked major barrages and storage projects. Environmental purity tests and “indigenous rights” campaigns killed Arun III, stalled West Seti and others. Nepal was left with run-of-river schemes that generate power when the weather cooperates but offer almost no flood regulation when an upstream avalanche or glacial surge hits. Sovereignty over infrastructure was surrendered to foreign vetoes.

That same foreign NGO ecosystem runs the political system. USAID and related Western money poured hundreds of millions into “governance,” “civil society,” media, youth empowerment and “democracy promotion.” Local NGOs became parallel power structures, more responsive to Washington and European donors than to Nepali voters. Ministers, activists, media figures and “independent” experts rotate through these funded networks. The result is a political class trained in the language of Western grants rather than in building real national capacity.
Foreign NGOs effectively set the limits of what Nepal is allowed to do.
Look at the last so-called revolution. The September 2025 “Gen Z” uprising that toppled KP Sharma Oli was sold as a spontaneous youth revolt against corruption and a social media ban. In reality it followed the classic color-revolution script: digital coordination through Discord channels linked to NGOs like Hami Nepal, rapid escalation, selective violence, and an interim government staffed with figures drawn from USAID- and NED-linked organizations.
An online “vote” produced Sushila Karki as interim prime minister.
Half the early interim cabinet had direct ties to Western-funded fronts. The process cleared the old parties and installed a new configuration more amenable to the same external networks. Elections in March 2026 then delivered Balen Shah and the Rastriya Swatantra Party—another product of the post-uprising landscape shaped by those same influences.
This is not organic national renewal.
It is managed regime change that keeps Nepal dependent, unable to pursue large-scale infrastructure without Western approval, and geopolitically pliable between India and China.

The empire’s NGOs first prevented the dams that could have mitigated today’s disaster. Then they engineered the political upheaval that installed leadership still operating inside the same donor-dependent framework.
Nepal’s rivers remain unmanaged for extreme events because the people who decide policy were selected and funded by the same external actors who oppose real sovereign development.
Sovereignty is not a slogan for Discord polls or grant applications.
It means the right to build the infrastructure that keeps your people alive—and the right to reject foreign NGOs that treat your country as a laboratory for their ideology and strategic games. Until Nepal breaks that dependency, catastrophes like the one unfolding today will keep repeating.

Because if one person has conflict with everyone they meet, the pattern is the person.

The pattern is the country.
