I've requested an urgent meeting with bosses at @PostOffice about the closure of Blackfriars Road Post Office.
Many older residents and those with mobility issues are reliant on this Post Office for basic services. Also concerns about lack of consultation on closure.
Today Cllr @IrinavonWiese and I are scrutinising Southwark Council’s Budget for 2023-24 on behalf of @swklibdems.
Please let us know your priorities and if you have any questions for Council bosses.
This week’s @Southwark_News presents a bleak picture of housing crisis in Southwark:
-I’ve called for an inquiry after a tenant was found dead
- Labour bosses admit residents are at risk in response to @IrinavonWiese concerns
-Labour spent £1,800 on farcical housing meeting
Today, the Conservative government rejected Southwark's bid for levelling up funding.
Meanwhile, Rishi Sunak’s own constituency of Richmond in Yorkshire received £19m.
Our residents have been let down by the Tories once again.

@swklibdems@SouthwarkLabour@IrinavonWiese@VMMChamberlain Very disappointed to hear that our request to scrutinise this matter has not been supported. Too many residents regularly suffer from a lack of heating & hot water. This impacts the health & well-being of many #Southwark households including some of the most vulnerable.
Great to be out delivering Cost of Living leaflets to local residents here in Saint George’s Ward
If you don’t need help, please pass the leaflet onto someone who might appreciate the help.
@VMMChamberlain@GSTTnhs I echo that. What happened to you? On my part, I will be extremely grateful for all the care and attention that my husband is receiving .
I’m fast becoming the spokesperson for bodily functions 🥹 but last night I asked Cllr Martin Seaton about the decline in public toilets in #Southwark. Proper public amenities help our high streets thrive & be accessible to all. We can’t just rely on goodwill when we need to go!
While I understand the pressures on council finances I think this is counterproductive. At the very least the council should do what I suggested when the charge was first introduced and allow those on benefits free collections. £35 is not affordable for those on benefits.
Stopping Domestic Violence
I believe that domestic abuse can be stopped - stopped before it started. Stopped before it ruins lives.
Domestic abuse is unacceptable.
