@shipwreckedcrew Let’s get this straight.
You’re a member of the Cathedral that’s pouting about a separate section of the Cathedral running a hit piece on a third member of the Cathedral nine days before she’ll have no authority over the Cathedral.
Do I have that right?

Razib. You’re one of the “good ones”
You say “it is what it is” for the status quo and throw your hands up.
But if it truly gets down to “it is what it is”, I don’t know what to tell you.
"Okay. This is your basic trucking industry. The originals were simple. Good wages, experienced drivers, carriers that actually retained people. The modern ones are different.
They're made up of layers. The top is your mega-carriers: Schneider, Werner, Swift. Getting paid first, losing drivers fastest. The bottom? Rookies. No experience, no retention, taking on turnover first.
Obviously if you're hiring rookies you can make more money. But they're a little risky. Sometimes they quit.
Somewhere along the line these rookies went from 'a little risky' to dog shit. I'm talking 90-100% annual turnover. No experience verification. Lease-purchase traps. Dog shit. The quit rates are already up. And if they keep rising, and they will, a lot of these carriers are going to zero."
"How come nobody's talking about this?"
"Because the ATA is too busy getting paid lobbying fees to tell Congress there's a shortage. They need the churn. They need the desperation. They need the new guy who doesn't know what detention pay even is."
"You're saying the shortage is fake and we're already in a crisis."
"That's right."
*knocks the Jenga tower over*
"That's America's trucking industry."
@alda_wise@EdWhelanEPPC@charlescwcooke I know it comforts you to think it’s the “Red” team that just thought of gerrymandering last year.
Get it through your skull.
“Red?”, ”Blue?”
Every one of these politicians literally pick their own voters.
