Never knew I would be alive in a time of history where a whole population would be wiped out in front of our eyes, where darkness would take over the hearts of so many on this earth…where no one would have the courage to stand up for justice. Who needs this kind of power?
When you can see but you choose to be blind, YOU are part of the problem.
When you can speak but you choose to be mute, YOU are part of the problem.

TY, @USCIS team! It was an honor to represent @LIRSorg and share the opportunity with our partners @humanrights1st, @IRAP and @project_anar!
Afghan friends, today is the last day to stop by the @EvacOurAllies table at the Support Center and receive our many helpful resources.
Two-year temporary status for Afghan evacuees expires soon. Immigration status uncertainty destabilizes Afghans' employment, housing, and mental health. LIRS has partnered with @urbaninstitute to research these resettlement experiences.

“Every day my family asks me, ‘why can’t you bring us there? Why can we not be reunited with you?'” said @MassomiHelal of @LIRSorg.
“And I don’t have an answer for them.”

Zarmina came to the US as a refugee from #Afghanistan when she was just 9 years old. 30 years later, she watched in shock as the Afghan government fell to the Taliban and nearly 80,000 Afghans were evacuated. Her call to welcome others as she had been welcomed brought her to LIRS
LIRS has welcomed over 500,000 people in the span of our 84 years! On this #TBT we are reminded of Nelly and Helen, sisters who arrived in the U.S. from Poland after WWII.
As her final wish, Helen left a portion of her estate to LIRS. The work of welcome has a lifelong impact💙
New data: the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program resettled 6,468 people in July — the 5th straight month of 6,000+ arrivals — for a total of 45,123 this FY.
It’s real progress, but there’s still work ahead to reach a pace on par with the administration’s target of 125,000 per FY.
@Afgmerican Because the country is fed, economy soaring, everyone has their rights fulfilled - and now they can concentrate on trivial things like the tie 🙄
Absolutely ridiculous!
@T_a_h_mina I am Pashtana - was never told about “codes” - was taught to be a good human and follow God’s path ❤️ I follow the Pashtun traditions that make sense and are within the frames of Islam - the traditions that do not make sense to me - I let them go.
An SIV struggles here in the US - he had to evacuate AFG because his life was in danger - USA promised him safety and stability. His future here in the US is uncertain. He doesn’t have a permanent home and his family back in AFG. Where’s your promise, USA
