oh my goodness -- Ted Lieu played Rubio a video of Trump sleeping while Rubio tried to talk to him during a cabinet meeting. Then this exchange happened:
RUBIO: I've never seen him fall asleep
LIEU: I'm gonna show you a video that shows you just lied to Congress
*plays another video of Trump sleeping by Rubio*
The Bund rejected Zionism. The Bund were all killed by Nazis and communists. For the vast majority of the Jews of the Eastern Hemisphere, the only survival and freedom they could find -- after trying every other imaginable option -- was Zionism.
Zionism is big and diverse and complex and beautiful. Zionism is also the product of a vast, unspeakable tragedy.
The Bund *should* have been able to build an interesting and flourishing Jewish world all its own, in the "hereness" of Eastern Europe. And in a better world, the Bund would have. But this isn't that world.
In this world, the Nazi war on the millenia-old European Jewish civilization was successful, the Jews of Europe were wiped out -- and old ideas that once animated Nazis and Stalinists in their murder of Bundists have now returned into fashion on left and right and gone looking once more for the Jews.
Is there a word that describes a Jew so pitiably afraid of the current whirlwind of hatred that they choose to build a fake past to live in, just so they can pretend that Jews ever had an alternative to Zionism?
The Bund's story, like Molly Crabapple's ahistorical polemics, is merely one more data point demonstrating that Zionism's case is actually -- tragically, in fact -- impregnable. That it is a story of the transformation of catastrophic annihilation into triumphant freedom and survival.
Donald Trump ran for office for three reasons:
1) stay out of jail
2) exact revenge on his enemies
3) line his pockets
Everything else he says is bullshit.
Sam Harris said one thing. The internet lost its mind.
October 7 was not a provocation. It was an invasion.
The terrorists who carried it out chose war, filmed their own crimes, and celebrated them.
What followed was not genocide. It was a response.
You cannot start a war and then redefine its consequences as a crime against you.
Do you agree with Sam Harris?
Sam Harris has triggered the hell out of Hamas supporters online by simply explaining a basic fact:
The Muslim terrorists who initiated a war against Israel on October 7 are facing the consequences of that war, not a genocide.
They invaded Israel shouting “Allah Akbar”, raped, murdered and burned over 1,000 Jews as Islamic acts of worship, and kidnapped hundreds more into Gaza.
They filmed their own atrocities with pride. They chose holy war, aka Jihad. Israel chose to fight back and destroy the enemy that attacked it.
That is not genocide.
That is war.
The people screaming “genocide” are the same ones who celebrated October 7 and still demand more Jewish blood.
They started the slaughter and now cry victim when Israel refuses to let them finish the job.
Sam Harris is doing what the media and politicians refuse to do: telling the truth without apology.
Do you agree with him? Yes/No?
@NickKristof@nytopinion Hi Nick. I’m proud to have joined hundreds outside the Times building to demand a retraction. Your work is a stain on journalism.
Want to know who the senior editor at @nytimes was who hid the Civil Commission's report on sexual violence and who pushed the atrocious and undocumented dog r@pe story? Meet Kathleen Kingsbury, who leads the "opinion report" for the New York Times. Melissa Brodsky, prolific author of the outstanding Substack, "The Lioness Writes," did the sleuthing. Full link in the comments. Quote:
"When she [Kingsbury] assumed control of the opinion section in 2020, three of the most prominent pro-Israel voices on the staff were gone within months. Editorial page editor James Bennet was forced out. Opinion writer Bari Weiss resigned, writing in her letter that colleagues had called her a Nazi and a racist, and that the publisher will cave to the mob, the editor will get fired or reassigned, and you will be hung out to dry. Opinion staffer Adam Rubenstein was gone too. "
Anyone want to make her famous?
@GordonaryGuy
The New York Times falsely reported that Israel shelled a Gaza hospital - turned out to be a Hamas rocket.
It ran a front-page story portraying a child with cerebral palsy as evidence of mass starvation.
And now: “rape dogs.”
The @nytimes long ago stopped being a paper of record. It rushes to print sensational claims hoping their readers are stupid.
As a New York Times subscriber, I find it insane that one of its opinion writers, with a known hatred for Israel, literally used Hamas’s salacious propaganda to make an absurd claim about Israel. Didn’t verify any of it. It places into question everything that the NYT publishes.
