@FER44Rl Because he was "pre destined"
But now the Italians have an Italian champion and the Tifosi now know that Ferrari will not win a Championship as long as winning one interferes with Leclercs H2H championship.
LEC doesnt know it yet but Kimi's WDC has ended his entire gimmick
Claude Code upgraded my grandma’s old TV to a real Smart TV with one prompt...
For years she couldn’t watch anything on it. Netflix wouldn’t open. YouTube kept saying “update required”. The TV was stuck on software from 2018 and the company stopped caring about it a long time ago
So I typed one line into Claude Code: flash my Android TV to the new Smart TV firmware
Here’s what it did, in simple words:
→ It found the TV on her Wi-Fi and connected to it
→ It checked the model and the old system. Android 9
→ It put the TV into update mode and installed a brand new system. 6.4 GB in about 41 seconds
→ It checked every part of the install, then restarted the TV
The TV came back on with a new system, 4K HDR and a voice assistant. Then Claude installed YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify, Disney+ and the Play Store by itself
Same TV. Same remote. Zero dollars
She thinks I bought her a new one
Want to try it on an old TV at home:
step 1 → open Claude Code and paste the prompt from the first comment
step 2 → it checks your exact model and finds the official update for it
step 3 → it tells you what it’s going to do before it touches anything
What old device should I bring back to life next?
A man reheated and ate a baked potato left in foil on the counter overnight. The next day, paralysis spread from his face down his body. Soon, he couldn’t breathe. What went wrong?
@HalTurnerMoron@Soap1942@VladTheInflator The correct grammatical expression is: Indians are retarded by 1970 standards.
A more natural phrasing is: By 1970 standards, Indians are retarded.
🚨 BREAKING: F1TV commentary bias exposed by the numbers. (This is a long 🧵)
I went through the full Azerbaijan GP qualifying transcript from F1TV’s Alex Jaques and Jolyon Palmer to see whether their disproportionate focus on Max Verstappen is actually measurable, rather than just something that feels obvious while watching.
The result is, unsurprisingly, pretty striking. 👀
Final qualifying order:
P1 Russell
P2 Leclerc
P3 Piastri
P4 Hadjar
P5 Norris
P6 Hamilton
P7 Gasly
P8 Verstappen
Now compare that with the number of times each driver was referenced:
Russell — 92
Verstappen — 88
Hadjar — 57
Norris — 48
Gasly — 40
Colapinto — 33
Hamilton — 31
Piastri — 29
Leclerc — 27
Sainz — 13
So Verstappen, who qualified P8, was mentioned almost as often as the driver who took pole and substantially more than every other driver in the top 10.
But raw mentions aren't even the most interesting part.
I classified the commentary into four types:
• simple position/list callouts
• neutral on-track updates
• narrative/character commentary
• incidents/mistakes
This is where the difference becomes much harder to ignore.
Hamilton, P6: 0 narrative mentions
Norris, P5: 3
Gasly, P7: 5
Verstappen, P8: 18
Hamilton's commentary was almost entirely things like “Hamilton goes fifth”, sector times, position updates, etc.
With Verstappen the commentary repeatedly became a storyline:
“Is this Verstappen's chance?”
“Max Verstappen with much loftier aspirations.”
“Such a good battle between Russell and Verstappen.”
“Phenomenal job from Verstappen to be that quick.”
“...a driver we expected to contend for pole position.”
And after he qualified eighth:
“Verstappen mysterious at the end…”
There was even an extended Russell-v-Verstappen comparison before Q3, effectively framing qualifying as a battle between those two, despite several other drivers ultimately qualifying ahead of Max.
Breaking the transcript down by session makes it even more obvious.
In Q1, Max's coverage was relatively normal and mostly related to what was happening on track.
In Q2, however, he became the most-referenced driver, and the commentary repeatedly returned to a Russell-v-Verstappen pole narrative.
In Q3, Russell understandably dominated the commentary because he produced an extraordinary pole lap. But Verstappen still received far more attention than most of the drivers who actually beat him.
And this is the distinction that matters:
I'm not claiming every Verstappen mention is unnecessary. He topped FP3, had genuine pace during parts of qualifying, had setup complaints, and for a while looked capable of challenging Russell. Those are legitimate reasons to talk about him.
The interesting part is how differently that material is treated editorially.
Other drivers get lap times and position updates.
Max repeatedly gets expectation-setting, rivalry framing, historical context, rhetorical questions, praise and extended discussion.
The clearest comparison is Hamilton.
Hamilton qualified two places ahead of Verstappen.
Hamilton: 31 total mentions, 0 narrative/character mentions.
Verstappen: 88 total mentions, 18 narrative/character mentions.
And Verstappen alone received more narrative commentary than Hamilton, Norris and Gasly combined, despite all three qualifying ahead of him.
So when people say it sometimes feels as though the broadcast is constantly trying to pull Max into the story, even when other drivers are actually producing the result... There is at least some measurable evidence behind that feeling.
The commentary didn't merely report Verstappen.
It repeatedly built the session around him.
And the Belgian kid finished P8.
@F1 please get rid of these amateur commentators. The bias is through the roof.
Max doesn’t just benefit from help on track, he gets the full PR treatment in the commentary box for years. They constantly build narratives around him, manufacture “battles” and expectations, and keep dragging him back into the story while other drivers actually producing the results barely get more than a position update.
At this point it stops sounding like race commentary and starts sounding like brand management.
Sorry, F1 is not a serious sport! 🤡

*BRILLIANT*
The French made a short film about what could happen after all immigrants would follow the ‘_white, angry old man’s_’ advice to go back where they came from.*
He said the ninth thing most people never consider is that the lens upgrades your optometrist pushes are the highest-margin upsells in the entire transaction — and most of them are available online for 80% less.
When you buy glasses at a retail optical shop, the frame is just the beginning. He said the lens "upgrades" are where the real money is made — and where the markup is most extreme.
"Anti-reflective coating. Blue-light filtering. Photochromic (Transitions). Scratch resistance. Progressive lenses. High-index thin lenses. UV protection. Each 'upgrade' is presented as an essential addition — and each one is priced at $50–$150+ at a retail shop. A full-featured pair of progressives with all coatings can reach $400–$600 in lenses alone — on top of the frame cost."
He said the manufacturing cost of these upgrades is a fraction of the retail price.
"Anti-reflective coating adds $2–$5 in manufacturing cost. Blue-light filtering adds $1–$3. Scratch resistance adds $1–$2. Photochromic (Transitions) adds $8–$15. Progressive lens blanks cost $5–$15. High-index material adds $3–$8. The total manufacturing cost of every premium upgrade combined — on a single pair of glasses — is $20–$45. The retail price for the same bundle: $300–$600."
He said online retailers offer all of these upgrades at dramatically lower prices.
"On Zenni: anti-reflective coating is $5–$15. Blue-light filtering is $5–$17. Photochromic lenses are $30–$80. Progressive lenses start at $25–$60. A fully loaded pair of progressives with every premium coating — the configuration that costs $500–$700 at LensCrafters — costs $80–$150 on Zenni. Same coating technologies. Same lens types. The difference is the markup — not the product."
