Claims made by Karnataka CM @Siddaramaiah on delimitation are misleading and reflect a disregard for established facts. This kind of narrative unfortunately mirrors what the Indian National Congress has increasingly been associated with—distorting facts to suit political agendas.
Historically, the southern states’ share of Lok Sabha seats since 1952—across the first delimitation and subsequent exercises in 1963, 1972, and 2002—has remained broadly around 24% of the total seats. Notably, three of these exercises were conducted during Congress-led governments at the Centre, while the fourth was implemented during their tenure in 2008.
The guiding principles for delimitation have remained consistent over time. The same constitutional framework and established norms will continue to govern future exercises, in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution of India.
The Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @NarendraModi ji and Home Minister Shri @AmitShah ji have already addressed this issue clearly. Despite this, Congress leaders continue to spread misinformation. Delimitation is a constitutional process—not a political conspiracy.
The Congress must take responsibility to inform citizens accurately rather than inflame sentiments. Misleading the public on such a sensitive issue is deeply irresponsible.
