Thank you @spinnershark7, @Ffisheries_lab, and all participating fly fishers for the opportunity and your support.
Great to welcome @martins_apb back to our @Ffisheries_lab at @jcu. Looking forward to more shark and ray conservation and fisheries management projects with her into the future. Check out our Lab's website for more info about who we are and what we do ~~>https://t.co/pMRtCLL9jS
Feeling disgruntled about the Spanish mackerel fishery management decisions? It is important to understand that these measures are supported by evidence-based science and will help to ensure the sustainability of the fishery (so it can be enjoyed by future fishing generations!)
📢Are you interested in sawfish? Do you want to be involved in global sawfish research initiatives? Then come and join our Sawfish Conservation Society team. Applications now open for our newly establish research committee! Details here ~~ https://t.co/7nNzw9JAy9 @sawfishconserv
Check out this recent publication by lab member @ofwildseas on the social complexities of #shark#depredation. Her research explores shark-fisher conflict through fisher perceptions and experiences with sharks taking their catch on the #GreatBarrierReef.

A blog post I co-authored for the @Ffisheries_lab on Queensland's Spanish mackerel fishery has just gone live - a highly controversial topic which covers the future of the fishery, hyperstability & the proposed management options. Go have a read!

Great to see some of our lab's research showcased at #WFC2021! @spinnershark7 @brooke_dalberto@ofwildseas I don't know about you, but we're definitely enjoying learning about all the diverse, innovative, and just plain cool #fisheries research that's happening around the globe!
My first paper is now out in Environmental Biology of Fishes! @SpringerNature. We produced preliminary age and growth estimates for #bluesharks from #PNG
The newest @IUCNRedList update for #sharks and #rays is out along with our new paper, led by @NickDulvy, showing over ⅓ of sharks and rays are threatened with #extinction. 1/4

Conservation challenges to sawfish in PNG mainly include gillnet fishing practices and the tendency of fishers kill or amputate rostra from entangled animals regardless of use. Fisheries management and community engagement on safe release practices needed. https://t.co/tBiCgq2MZr
Be sure to follow our new lab twitter account @Ffisheries_lab. We're a collection of students, ECR's, and Researchers (inc @spinnershark7, @ElasmoProject, @crigby4) at James Cook University, working on aspects of fisheries and conservation in regional and global contexts
