Things we learned from the dark side of the Discord on spammers v2:
- Spammers can be extremely aggressive. 65% of the spammers who got timed out after the first offense will patiently wait until they can post again. Slightly more than 10% of spammers will wait more than half an hour before trying again.
- Spammers adapt fast. In each new try, the spammer will try the same thing but slightly differently. We see examples where a spammer graduates from text to image in 3 tries while tweaking the content
- Spammers are nimble. They are willing to go all gorilla and target one user one minute at a time.
This comes across in different ways: (a) They leave the server right away after posting messages, making it hard for you to delete their messages or ban them. (And sometimes they come back!). (b) They delete their own messages. Why? Because the message is designed to be shown to one person at a time. If you have no log or protection, you might miss them.
- And a fun fact: Mr. Beast's crypto scam is old but still extremely prevalent on Discord. (They also have a web2 version of the same scam) The scam keeps going on because it is highly effective in targeting kids.

this is wierd, for a long time, our goal is to build the best support bot on Discord.
And I didn't bother to take a second and ask. Why not the best support bot? Period.
