Here to promote and advance Harari interests in Ethiopia, especially Harar, and to fight for continued existence of the Harari Regional State and its integrity
We condemn recent reports of calls to dissolve Harari Region & place it under Oromia.
We call on all stakeholders to defend the constitution, respect #Harar's distinct heritage, uphold Harari Region's territorial integrity & ensure that the Harari people's rights are protected.
Analysis፡ Illicit construction, renovation of houses pose peril to #UNESCO inscribed #Jugol wall https://t.co/5q1WPaKPQ4 #JugolWall, which is the identity of the #Harari community, offering them with social, economic,& environmental benefits, is under threat. By @MercyG_kirstos
Statement on the precarious state of #Harar’s wall, #Jugal, inscribed by #UNESCO in 2006 as one of the world’s heritages. Today it is in a state of disrepair and at risk. This heritage needs to be protected and preserved. @UNESCO@UnescoEast
#Harari: On forceful seizure of Aw Abdal Institute properties, illegal destruction of its properties and unlawful building of shanty houses https://t.co/fEWwoPaHUx @HarariCouncilON makes a compelling case of its concerns on illegal activities threatening the #AwAbdal Institute.

We add our voice to the chorus of #Harari voices in condemning the ongoing illegal dispossession of Harari land, heritage and other material and non-material #Harar|i properties.

🚨NEW REPORT🚨 TW: Rape
Our report reveals how sexual violence incl. gang rape & sexual slavery have been used by forces aligned to the Ethiopian govt as a weapon of war to inflict lasting damage on Tigrayan women & girls since the #Tigray conflict began.

In 2018, #Harari region couldn’t even maintain law & order nor protect #Harar|i citizens in its own region. It’s embarrassing to now see Harari region deploying a meager couple dozen to #Tigray along with sleeping bags. It’s obvious they’re being compelled to do so from the top
While many in 🇪🇹 will be voting tomorrow, some will not. #Hararis & #Somalis have been relegated to second round voting after failed attempts at limiting the #Harar|i vote. We celebrate the victories, big or small. And we commiserate with other 🇪🇹’s as they face their crises.
This is my op-ed on "HARARI PEOPLE, SELF-ADMINISTRATION, ELECTORAL SYSTEM: Clearing Wrong Perceptions", published on @addisstandard. I kindly invite you all to read & share. Comments are also warmly welcomed.

It is with pleasure that we relay to you that Ethiopia’s Federal Supreme Court rejected NEBE’s recent decision in limiting #Harari voting rights!
We perceive this as a first failed salvo against federalism in #Ethiopia.
#Ethiopia: Supreme Court sustains the right of Hararis outside the region to vote for #Harari National Assembly members https://t.co/7NkWd0FgLI the Court sustained the plea from the Harari National Assembly disputing @NEBEthiopia's decision to disallow the voting. By @MahletFasil
This is a gross distortion!
“The Harari Regional legislature is made up of two chambers: the 1st, Harari National Assembly, is a 14-member council made up of Hararis, voted in by Hararis; & the 2nd, Harari Peoples’ Representative Assembly, is a 22-member council open to all.”
HCO, and all #Hararis around the world, condemn the decision of @NEBEthiopia to limit #Harari voting rights.
We see the decision of NEBE & other recent activities as an encroachment on Harari rights to self-determination & a precursor to further disenfranchisement of #Harar|is.
@JSoresa @IvanGaidarov@HebereBeher@LiyaTefferi It’s one thing to be confused, it’s a whole other thing to insist using it in the face of being told not to. This particular exonym wasn’t always used derogatively but it is being used so today & especially in her tweets; any foreigner should be able to understand the context.
