@Thedude00547982 He tried out for Inter Miami and was rejected. Because of how MLS academies and "homegrown" zones work, he was basically locked out of the MLS acadamies unless his parents moved him to a different zone (which they did). He made the Orlando City academy and the rest is history
You shouldn’t be rewarded for just having a big name, club or area . You should be rewarded for what you do on the field. Unfortunately in the United States Soccer we are not allowed the freedom of that. Youth clubs should be rewarded for their development of players.
I don’t believe in specialization of kids this early it should start at u10. It just seems like his son was not good enough. Landon Donovan sounds like a whiny parent. If you want rec go play rec .
“Millions of kids" are falling out of love with soccer due to a prioritization of competitiveness over fun.”

The cost of youth soccer and wining over development ❌

People are always making us soccer issues on the youth or youth coaches when we are a product of the environment. The issue is not having promotion and relegation.we should be giving every club access instead of 30 MLS CLUBS who are always gonna control everything’.
and mls has 24 US academies in 50 states and no academy contracts so players play free from 16 to 18 in the US.. then MLS owns your rights. It’s a terrible deal… seen them block transfers time and again one way or another.
Don’t agree.
There are rec/pickup levels of sport for all stages of life.
It’s the desire to play “the best” level over the humility and acceptance of just finding an enjoyable level that’s hurting many kids and parents who aren’t the best.
If you want enjoyment, prioritize it
@clotterman We have plenty of very athletic players who prioritize soccer. They are mostly found in immigrant communities.
The real challenge is that you have to start very early to be good at soccer, but if you have the athleticism for football or basketball you can start in your teens
The only real conclusion we can draw from the fact that 85% of the /England) squad signed for academies at the age of 8 is that 8 is the earliest age you can register for an academy. Correlation is not causation.

This is an 11 year old boy from Pasco, Washington, just trying to get his letter into the hands of the Seattle Sounders and Cristian Roldan.

Had 83. Did the postgame presser with A’ja by his side & told DWade to sit his old ass down for talking down on the Heat. Had an emotional moment with his momma where he cried with her after the game given how far they came from that trailer they lived in. Bam is alright with me
⚽ Football superstar Lionel Messi applauds as Donald Trump describes US military accomplishments in Trump’s unprovoked war on Iran, including U.S. bombing that has killed more than 1,200 Iranians — over 300 children.
Young guards should study old tape of Kendall Marshall
Amazing how many guards over dribble
Hit the ball ahead, incentivize teammates to run hard, make perfect passes
Being a point guard is not as simple as dribbling the ball down the floor
Taylor White has a hand in all three West Virginia goals as they net three big points on the road in Provo against BYU.
The result boosts WVU up to a 20th place tie in the RPI Win Value chart.
One last note on Northwestern State upsetting Texas tonight.
The best pointer as to how big an upset this was might be Fiscal Year 2024 budgets on women's soccer:
Texas? $3.26 million.
Northwestern State? About $670,000.
@usmntaut There are no *clubs* in MLS.
MLS is the club. The teams are just geographically separated offices of MLS.
However, really appreciate you sharing this story! It's critical more people understand how the monopoly operates regarding reporting.
