This year we are launching Future Asset Forum at IBW

A forward-looking forum, built around one question: what becomes valuable when intelligence becomes abundant?

AI makes utility abundant, human desire makes culture scarce, and new ownership rails make that scarcity investable.

The forum moves from human desire to assets, ownership and the rails underneath, across entertainment, sports, AI and tokenisation.

UPI. ULI. Now UMI.

UPI launched in 2016 and changed how India pays. Today, nearly 555 million people use it, with over 24.5 billion transactions every month.

ULI followed, piloted in 2023, named the Unified Lending Interface in 2024, targeting lending. It brings data from governments, banks and credit bureaus together, designed to cut loan assessment from weeks to minutes.

Now comes the least understood, and potentially biggest, piece.

In October 2025, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra unveiled the Unified Markets Interface (UMI) at Global Fintech Fest in Mumbai. UMI is designed to tokenise financial assets and settle them using wholesale CBDC, bringing the asset and central bank money onto the same rails.

Its first pilot focused on tokenised Certificates of Deposit, with the Governor calling the results encouraging.

Put the three together and the direction is clear: India has built the rails for how money moves, how credit reaches people, and now how assets are issued, owned and settled.

The IBW Institutional Forum brings the people building this next layer of financial infrastructure into one room.

Binance returns as Title Sponsor for India Blockchain Week Conference 2026.

The exchange closed H1 2026 with 300 million registered users globally, close to 43% of everyone holding crypto today, and has processed over $156 trillion in cumulative trading volume since it launched nine years ago. This year, it pushed further into stocks, ETFs, and tokenized securities, building toward what it calls a ‘financial super app’.

That scale will be part of IBW Conference for a second year, as @BinanceForIN joins builders, founders, and policymakers shaping the future of India's Web3 ecosystem.

Last June, we brought founders from across Africa to Nairobi for the inaugural Hashed Vibe Haus – Africa Edition, powered by @tether @Tether_Africa

For five days, Nairobi became a space for these founders building at the intersection of stablecoins, and AI/agentic payments, to connect, exchange ideas, learn from experienced ecosystem leaders, and think deeply about what they’re building next.

But we didn’t just want to hear about their products.

We wanted to hear their stories.

What inspired them to start?
What problems are they solving?
What does building from Africa look like today?
What have they learned along the way?

So, throughout the residency, we sat down with each founder for candid conversations about their journeys, their companies, and their experience at Vibe Haus Nairobi.

🎥 Hear from the founders who joined us in Nairobi.

Tokenised US Treasuries have crossed $15 billion. Where does India fit in?

BlackRock launched BUIDL, its tokenised Treasury fund, in March 2024. It now holds roughly $2.7 billion. The wider tokenised US Treasury market has since passed $15 billion.

These are regulated funds holding real government debt, issued on-chain and used for yield and collateral.

India's markets run on the same class of instruments that tokenisation has already moved on-chain elsewhere: G-Secs, corporate bonds, mutual fund units.

The open question is whether those instruments can be tokenised here, and what has to change in market structure and regulation for that to work.

That is what the tokenisation session at the IBW Institutional Forum will test.

⚖️📜 Regulatory, Tax and Policy

Kenya's regulatory landscape shifted decisively in 2025, moving from cautious warnings to formal legislative action. The landmark development was the Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASP) Act 2025, assented to by the President in October 2025.

With the VASP Regulations now gazetted, the focus shifts to implementation, a critical step in strengthening market confidence and unlocking the ecosystem's next phase of growth.
