⭕️ The temporary IMO-backed corridor in Omani waters is suspended following the attack.
IRGC hailing and surveillance activity continued in the strait of Hormuz – UKMTO
UKMTO says ships transiting using Iranian or Omani route must keep AIS on, and contact the relevant coastal state: Iran or Oman.
25 June 1996: The remains of internationalist fighter Carlos Coello “Tuma” were brought back to Cuba.
Born near Manzanillo in 1940, Tuma was one of Che Guevara’s closest comrades in struggle. He fought first in Congo and then with the Bolivian guerrilla.
He was killed in combat on 26 June 1967 in the Piray region of Bolivia. In his diary, Che Guevara wrote of Tuma’s death with great sorrow and described him as one of his closest comrades.
They told you the Cold War was about freedom versus tyranny.
What it was about, at the level of actual decisions made by actual people with actual budgets, was which economic arrangements would govern the postwar world.
Would the resources of the Global South be available to Western capital on Western terms?
Would the trade routes, the commodity prices, the investment conditions, the monetary architecture serve the reconstruction of Western European and American prosperity?
Or would newly independent nations be permitted to nationalize their resources, default on colonial debts, trade with whom they chose, and build economic models that served their own populations first?
That was the question.
Freedom was the advertising.
Every coup, every proxy war, every structural adjustment program imposed by the IMF as a condition of loans, every government overthrown for being "communist" when, in reality, it was simply unwilling to accept the terms:
This was not ideology.
This was business.
And the citizens of the Western center went along with it because the business made their lives comfortable, and the advertising told them they were "the good guys," and the universities taught them the economics that explained why this arrangement was optimal for everyone.
The rot set in the moment plunder was renamed freedom.
That was a long time ago.
The rot has had time to go deep.
Israeli war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu:
“We live in a turbulent, chaotic, barbaric Middle East.”
The one responsible for the turbulence, chaos and barbarism is Israel, which has committed a genocide, occupied multiple countries, and bombed multiple countries.
This is as bizarre as if Hitler would have complained about living in a Europe plagued by war, death, and chaos in the 1940s.
The Telegraph reports that Keir Starmer is considering selling nearly 100,000 tons of Russian crude seized from a sanctioned tanker in the international waters of the English Channel, with the proceeds, worth around $47 million, to be assigned to Ukraine.
The tanker, Smyrtos, was stopped by British marines on June 14 and has since been held off Weymouth under Ministry of Defence control. Its Indian captain has been charged with sanctions evasion.
Under Portuguese colonialism, Africans lived under chibalo — forced labour for no pay. When peasants gathered peacefully at Mueda in 1960 to demand freedom, the Portuguese fired into the crowd. ~600 dead.
At Wiriyamu, 1972: napalm, and villagers burned alive in their huts.
4. The United States broke with all other Security Council members, focusing on Hamas rather than Israeli restrictions on aid.
Note: Under international humanitarian law, aid cannot be treated as political leverage. Humanitarian relief must be based on need, delivered impartially, and allowed to reach civilians rapidly and without arbitrary obstruction. Civilian survival cannot be conditioned on disarmament, negotiations, or political concessions.
@DavidHundeyin I was telling my South African friend just yesterday that the number of bots being used online to sabotage South Africa is mind-blowing. We know many of them are bots, yet some people still engage with them as if they're communicating with real humans.
‼️IRGC Navy:
“Vessels should not approach the Strait of Hormuz
Due to the crimes of the Zionist regime in Lebanon and the US's failure to uphold ceasefire commitments, the Strait of Hormuz is closed to all vessels.
It is emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz is closed and vessels should not approach it; otherwise, their security will be at risk.”
Our reporter @cjmbaillie caught up with @TheGreenParty leader @ZackPolanski today - and he's very clear, @AndyBurnhamGM: if you do become PM, you need to put in proportional representation BEFORE the next general election, not after it.
Every day the Israelis announce that they have agreed to a ceasefire until the sun goes down, where they resume their attempts to advance to take Ali El Taher, they fail to take the hill and then bombard the area surrounding it in the morning and repeat the same cycle.
