@Shawn33Larson33@mountainwesttax Hmm
While I don’t want an economic crisis for me or anyone else. A downturn might beat down this industry down which would be just fine with me
@financedystop The demographic of humans in America is getting smaller. The demographic of humans over 65 is getting bigger. It’s just the churn of people over 65 getting different jobs and having less savings
@Henrytheefirst Hmm
Dave actually has no experience at being retired.
He does have experience being broke, hollering at people on the radio, and taking kick backs from his advisors in his “network”
@SourceDuMal My mom bought be my first bra. It was a 28A. I am pretty sure I was already a 32B/C.
It made big angry red marks. I told her it was too tight. She told me it was going to feel more snug than an undershirt.
Writing this now it seems both kinda funny and very aggravating
@realfrugalmogul We have an aged 5th wheel we use for trips 100-ish miles from where we store it. We also delivered a new camper van from IA to AZ. It was cramped but very fun and nimble. Ended the week not wanting to buy one but would do another delivery in a heartbeat
@DavidCG1111@DividendBreeder The relative attractiveness of locations are in constant flux. Some places have more robust jobs markets than than they had before the recession others are weaker and going yo be more impacted by technology change, climate change etc
@lovyPrimzy1 My FIL has bought several cars without any consultation with MIL over the last 60+ yrs
I told DH long before we ever got married that I was not going to be in a marriage where that was OK
DH bought a motorcycle and I bought a car by ourselves. It was definitely agreed on 1st
@DavidCG1111@DividendBreeder While some markets are more prone to boom and bust, how your area does in the next recession may l not relate to how it did in the last
@financedystop As a GenXer it seems to me that while some of the most subsidized folks of my generation are terrible at both earning money and living within their means
People with parents that raised them with the expectation of needing to catch something and bring it back to the cave do fine
@zerohedge If I understand the methodology correctly capital gains don’t count as income.
people on the right side of the K shaped economy have capital gains.
90% our spending is cap gains. Savings rate -90%?
@end3of6days9@Amanda40015520 It sounds nicer than my mom’s assisted living which covers the same stuff mostly and cheap for two than her assisted living is just for her.
@coachvint I know people with kids in traveling sports or cheer that straight up do not have the money for it.
Straight up going into debt. Because they get some sort of dopamine hit from watching their kids.
Also the time commitment 😜
@kevinxu It’s just the rules. Family member died and her house that had property tax increase of 966% when it sold.
She was in her mid 70’s and it had property 13 status from day one. She died with no family that met the criteria to transfer the property 13 to☹️
@zachmelloh26 I only view the healthcare as a real problem. In large part because the rules are constantly in flux.
Have some taxable. This bull market has allowed nice opportunities for capital gains and just wait til 59.5 for post tax accounts.
@estherzelda0514@ramit Plus just generic anxiety
I have found having a plan to spend helps me with this
I still am under budget usually
I don’t have any holes in my yoga pants, underwear, or socks. I do have a pair of shoes to replace with new ones then toss
@spickrell1@Greiser I am going to go with about 20-25 years.
We have made that much the last two years. We are mid 50’s and retired our income as retired people beats any of our working years.
No inheritance
still have one offspring in higher ed that we help
The bull market has been good
@BarbellFi I have friends too
