Droplets hopping over hurdles are slower than droplets running down a smooth non-wetting track! 💦🏃🏻‍♀️

Excited to (finally) share this last bit of PhD work @PMMH_lab and #LadHyX as a featured article @AIP_Publishing 🥳

Well done Rebecca @RebeccaNPoon on the publication of your first-author paper! In https://t.co/qVAEL9wcAX we study how tiny baby corals (well coral larvae to be precise) self propel using #cilia, and deduce the nature of ciliary coordination on the surface of the #coral

📰 Postdoc position opening !!!
We are still looking for a postdoc for our project on cell-mimetic active systems.
Interdisciplinary, international and inclusive environment, with tons of exciting science 🔬
Please RT and share!

Nice work from Phil Bayly, @DutcherLab and collaborators, using acoustic trapping as an alternative way to confine microswimmers so the can be imaged at high res, including flagellar synchrony in the case of #chlamydomonas.

[Physical Review Fluids @PhysRevFluids]

#ThrowbackThursday at PRFluids: Droplets can skitter across a hot surface riding on a layer of their own vapor due to the Leidenfrost effect. With specially designed surfaces, this motion can be controlled, shown by Soto et al. in our first issue in 2016. https://t.co/EbX6Ha1DMs

[Laboratoire FAST @FAST_Orsay]

Bacteria play marbles! In @PhysRevE we show that swimming bacteria induce the clustering of micrometric beads, yielding giant clusters up to several millimeters. This process follows a self-similar dynamics analogous to Ostwald ripening. https://t.co/X1YreCy33K

Excited to release our latest work, led by @hbozhao in collaboration with our friend Andrej Košmrlj!

In this preprint (https://t.co/uJNIj2zaYb), we study how chemotactic active matter phase separates—and find many cool surprises. 🦠🚀🔬

One does not need superheated surfaces for the Leidenfrost effect to occur: fizzy water and a superhydrophobic surface are enough, as shown by @garethmckinley & Philippe Bourrianne in their very nice Phys. Today article https://t.co/4Nhsefcgsg (and their references therein).
