I remember a time when one income could buy a house, support a family. When you knew your GP and ambulances arrived within minutes, we all had dentists, and we had clean beaches to visit. Now we have food banks and warm banks, a housing crisis and people living pay cheque to pay cheque. Millions of children living in poverty and an NHS unable to support people. The right will tell you it’s migrants fault but in reality it’s down to the choices of Tory govts.

@ShesfromWales @terrychristian Worked in a hotel at weekends in my teens. Never saw tips left when cleaning the rooms. Occasionally given a couple of quid, fiver or so for bringing breakfast in bed. Now suspect the hotel owners had been checking the rooms as soon as guests checked out…

@redbites @MartinSLewis I appreciate that the French and the English have got history and that probably isn’t going away. Worth acknowledging that the ‘beef’ very much predates the EU. The rest of Europe (and there’s clearly a lot of it) have always been fairly positive partners with the UK.
