Using data from 2 year photo-ethnography with people who use meth (@jaredragland), we have published the 1st photo-ethnography in the journal Criminology! We show the importance of narratives in shaping behavior @FionaBrookman1 @BlakeDBeaton https://t.co/xQ5tfU5xdP
@UAB_CJ Honor student Tatyana Martin (mentored by @jeffatuab) won the @SouthernCrim student poster award this year! She'll be entering the MSCJ program in the spring
@SJacques83 I know some of the narrative criminologists in Europe were doing this, but I don't know if they still are. Also, there is the ethnographic cafe, where they invite ethnographers to discuss their work (but it's sociology in general not criminology).
I worked with @fabioimpoppi on this paper now in Critical Criminology. We use innovative data collection and theoretical framework (joint fantasizing) to look at identities and crime. https://t.co/9WmTDZ9fuV #qualcrim
I hope this gets the conversation started about the practical and ethical issues with making transcripts and other qualitative data public. The editors of Criminology @VolkanTopalli seem open to discuss. Would live to hear other people's thoughts on it. #Criminology#qualcrim
Pleased that The Criminologist published @HeCopes & my article on the "Transparency trade-off: the risks of Criminology’s new data sharing policy". As board members of #Criminology we felt it was important to discuss possible implications for qualitative researchers &participants
@4n6dave @naturally_crime @UAB_CJ @LindsayLeban Yes, Sloane did in fact change her mind on beards. It's how I was able to get such wonderful candid shots.
@naturally_crime @UAB_CJ @LindsayLeban After the photo shoot, Sloane and I did a photo-elicitation interview to discuss identity issues. We are now buddies and she sees the beauty in the beard. It's really a heart-warming story.
@LindsayLeban and I are designing an 8week journaling class with women who experienced violence. Each week will have a new journal technique and theme. e.g., we will use @TheHalfArtist 8-panel life story idea. We'd love to hear any other interesting journaling devices!
In case Dr. Leon Pettiway’s contribution to criminology gets lost in the sea of unsubscribe emails, his book Honey, Honey, Miss Thang is the earliest work in queer criminology that I am aware of. https://t.co/8nqIiowS62
