🎥 Cross-border Women and Peace Initiative Exchange Program, at Umoja Women Village | 1–2 October 2025
Located approximately 380 km from Nairobi, Umoja Women Village in Samburu County stands as the only women-only community in Africa, a powerful symbol of women’s strength, resilience, and self-reliance. Founded by courageous Samburu women, the village provides a safe space for survivors of gender-based violence to rebuild their lives, educate their children, and lead sustainable livelihoods.
From 1–2 October 2025, @IGADsecretariat Gender, with support from the people of Japan 🇯🇵, conducted a Cross-border Women and Peace Initiative Exchange Program, that brought together women from across the IGAD region. The exchange fostered mutual learning, cultural appreciation, and knowledge-sharing aimed at strengthening women’s participation in leadership and peacebuilding. 🌍✨
📽️ Watch the video below to relive the inspiring moments from Umoja Women Village, a story of courage, solidarity, and transformation.
