Student-led advocacy in partnership with Afe Babalola University Promoting IPC(Infection Prevention and Control) and AMS (Antimicrobial Stewardship)
#onehealth
What began that day was more than an event. It was the birth of a community committed to learning, leading, and creating impact.
One conversation. One community. One impact at a time.
Here’s to where it all started 🛡️💚💙
Every movement has an origin story.
For the Health Shield Club, it was our very first Grand Round and the first-ever student-led Grand Round at Afe Babalola University, where we joined the global conversation on Antimicrobial Resistance during World Antimicrobial Awareness Week
Are you passionate about healthcare, research, community service, or making a real difference? The Health Shield Club is looking for volunteers ready to learn, serve, and create impact.
From health education and community outreach to research, innovation, and welfare projects,
Too often, health solutions are designed far from the communities they are meant to serve.
As one participant at Skoll World Forum 2026 put it:
"We need to dismantle the tables and go build where the people already live, sleep, and survive."
Strong health systems are not built in conference rooms alone. They are built through participation, collaboration, and meaningful engagement with communities.
Connection is not a line item in a budget or a sub-clause in a grant proposal. It is the infrastructure that makes lasting health impact possible.
For us at Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh (DRASA) Health Trust, this affirms what we know to be true: sustainable health security starts with people, from grassroots communities to government, working together to develop Health Champions and strengthen systems that last.

Meet Toxoplasma gondii — a sneaky little parasite that lives in cat litter and causes toxoplasmosis infection.
For most people it's a non-event, but during pregnancy? It can seriously harm the fetus.
Simple fix: Wash your hands after every litter box change. If you are pregnant, do not eat undercooked meat.

Get to know these pathogens, but don't catch 'em at all!
We cannot separate our health from the world around us.
This World Environment Day reminds us that every clean environment is a line of defense against diseases. Through the One Health approach, what happens to our planet, animals, and people is all connected.
When we protect our environment, we protect each other.
