@Hedgeye A friend of mine in his 50s quit his mid-six figure job early last year because of differences of opinions with his boss. He hasn’t been able to find a job and his parents have been paying his full salary since. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.
@WesRoth@sama This will only get worse. @mustafasuleyman said as much in his book. You can’t strip away the livelihood of millions and not expect the pitchforks to come out.
@CharlieMMonger@dfeuling_@DaveShapi (2) work has been around since the dawn of time, so just arbitrarily eliminating it in the name of progress seems shortsighted. Lastly, I don’t know if we take seriously the short term suffering before utopia is reached. Let’s not be so flippant about the suffering of others.
@CharlieMMonger@dfeuling_@DaveShapi (1) I’m not a Luddite, so no, I don’t think we stop tech from advancing. Though, we should put a modicum of effort in planning a world without work and try to understand the implications of doing so. Also, maybe ask the question “Is eliminating work a good thing?”
@iruletheworldmo How do you propose we normies plan for the end of work? There’s some small marginal steps we could take, sure. But the scale of this is such that any planning will probably be pointless.
