I read Ali Khan Mahmudabad's Facebook post at least 7-8 times because I wanted to figure out what was wrong with it, especially since he was arrested for it. Please read it, and I have included screenshots.

A few days ago, the Haryana Women's Commission issued a notice to Mahmudabad, attaching screenshots of his posts, stating that they appeared to indicate, among other things, disparagement of Colonel Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, incitement of communal unrest, and an attack on national integrity.

I'm stunned by the amount of hypocrisy and lies that need to be exposed here. So let's take it one by one.

1. There is not a single insinuation in his post that disparages Col Qureshi or Wing Commander Vyomika. In truth, it honors them with caution. The only thing wrong with this post is that it was written by a man with a Muslim name. Which certainly may and does pose an issue in India.

2. This is also an example for those who continuously remind us to be cautious about what we write. While we are cautious, no amount of prudence will prevent the authorities from arresting a Muslim in India. So you should all begin telling us not to write at all. Because at the very least, you will all be expressing the truth while realizing what India has become.

3. Vijay Shah, who referred to Col Qureshi as a "sister of terrorists". A woman army officer who has dedicated her life to her country has been singled out and dehumanized by a BJP politician because of her religion. And he still has not been arrested. However, Ali Khan, despite his grace and scholarship, has been arrested, which should give you a fair idea of the tremendous hypocrisy that is currently a state policy.

4. If you read the opening paragraph of the post, Ali Khan outlines the shift in state policy towards terrorism but does not express his opinion on it. His critics may claim that he is siding with the government, while others may simply describe it as creating a premise to illustrate his point of view. Nonetheless, he is not critical of the government, except to urge people to display same courage while dealing with other persecutions of ordinary Indian Muslims. And even then, he is arrested. His detention may appear to demonstrate the government's lack of fortitude, but this is not the case. Actually, they are using him as an example to show Muslims their place and provide something for their Sanghis to cheer about.

5. Finally, this is where India is today. For most Hindus, it's BJP vs. Congress. For minorities, it's about survival. When you say there is no difference between Congress and the BJP. The BJP will harass, persecute, and oppress minorities as part of its policy, whereas the Congress will not.

Sometimes I marvel how Sanghis have the nerve to lie and say, "Let the police do their job." When even the blind see through their lies and deception.

We're almost the worst version of India presently. And believe me when I say that it will and can go far worse, to the point where the only democratic institutions remaining in India are the names. However, they will simply be names.

We should all be ashamed right now that a scholar is in jail for nothing, as Ali Khan has literally spoken or done nothing.
