The Baloch Literacy Campaign is deeply concerned over the total closure or partial functionality of several schools in Dera Bugti, Balochistan, as well as the severe shortage of teachers and resources in the area. The district of Dera Bugti has been facing a constant and alarming decline in its literacy ratio due to the total closure of multiple schools and a lack of essential resources for their basic functionality.

The team of the Baloch Literacy Campaign has collected data on various schools in the district that are currently facing drastic challenges, including total dysfunctionality and the absence of adequate resources. The following data and information on several schools reveal the unfortunate condition of schooling and education in Dera Bugti:

1. Government Boys Primary School Killi Sahib, Khan Behlooti, Dera Bugti is currently completely closed due to the absence of allocated teachers. The lack of teaching staff has deprived the students of their basic right to education and has brought the functioning of the school to a complete halt.
2. Government Middle School Killi Nabi Bux Perozani, Tehsil Singseela has approximately 50 enrolled students. However, due to the lack of teachers, the school is unable to function properly. The shortage of teaching staff has severely affected the educational activities of the school.
3. Government High School Killi Wadera Haji Dalelaan, Sarloop is the only high school in the area. Despite its importance to the local community, the school has remained closed for 8 years. This prolonged closure has deprived an entire generation of students of basic education.
4. Government Primary School Killi Yaseen has been facing a shortage of teachers and necessary staff, resulting in the closure and irregular functioning of the school for years. The constant absence of teaching staff has left the school unable to provide regular educational opportunities.
5. Government Primary Boys School Killi Raza Mohammad Town, Dera Bugti lacks basic facilities and essential staff, including teachers. Due to these conditions, the school is currently completely closed, further depriving children in the area of their fundamental right to education.
6.Government Primary School Peer Sori, Dera Bugti, has been non-functional for a long time. The students in this area are deprived of attending their classes and receiving education. The school faces a shortage of teaching staff and other essential resources, including adequate shelter, proper desks for sitting, and basic facilities.

The situations described above reflect the severe challenges faced by the local community in the education sector. The total closure of schools, shortage of teaching staff, and lack of educational resources are not merely administrative failures; they are barriers that directly affect the future of children and the education of the district. As education is a fundamental right, and every child reserves this very right and opportunity conferred in the Constitution, to learn, regardless of their location nationality and gender. The continued closure of schools in Dera Bugti is a grave concern and requires immediate administrative action.

The Baloch Students Action Committee (@BSAC_org), under the banner of the Baloch Literacy Campaign, urges the concerned authorities to take immediate and practical steps to functionalize these schools, appoint the required teachers, and provide basic necessary services for a better learning environment.
