We've been doing a lot of work on how to use high quality texts across the primary curriculum.
We've just published some guidance on @TheTeachersColl free to download

I have two copies of Responsive Coaching to give away.
Simply **retweet this tweet** for your chance to win one of them.
I'll pick two winners on Monday (23/09/24).
@MissAHadley You'll get there. I still used to worry about the first day back even after 17 years of teaching! I remember for the first year as an NQT I would leave staff meetings wondering what the hell was going on and if I'd ever understand all the acronyms and jargon! It comes over time
@MusharafAsghar Happy Birthday! This episode still moves me to tears everytime I see it. Well done you and well done to all those teachers who believe...
Following a few requests from teachers and school leaders, I've made short video on the key ideas that I think teachers (and parents/carers) need to know about reading development, based on my reading concept map.

@Emma_Turner75 Amazing! The power of a book to open up new worlds and hone different skills. Better than my year 4 - when I asked her what her favourite part of the first day back had been she said 'lunch'! 🤣
This is such a valuable post which discusses primary reading in a really easy to understand way. Some very useful points here for educators, along with signposting to some great resources.
I sometimes get asked about the common issues I see across primary schools and the kind of support I offer as a result. This brief blog explains this stuff.
As ever, retweets really appreciated (given that the algorithm hates links to blogs).

***TEACHER HACKS***
The team are building a brilliant series of books designed to support subject pedagogy professional development.
Teacher Hacks will zoom in on the most challenging concepts in subjects providing innovative, research-informed strategies to demystify and demonstrate how to approach them in your classroom.
The books will be accompanied by a new video platform built by teachers for teachers explaining how to teach the most challenging concepts in lessons.

Absolutely this! As an ex-primary teacher my motto was always that books are a mirror and a window - they need to see themselves in the books they read but also be exposed to different experiences and reflections of the world they live in.
For a lot of children, the classroom is their only source of access to books. They don't go to the local library. They don't go to bookshops or get bought books as gifts. That's why the books that schools have on their shelves need to reflect their pupils and the lives they lead.
