Metadata Manager @LSELibrary. Exploring and developing new ways in which metadata can support research, teaching and learning. Usual caveat - opinions my own!
@espejolento@HelsKRW Yes! There’s so much potential to use Wikidata to make research discoverable, and find new connections. Helen’s toolkit is a great guide to getting theses into Wikidata and I’m always keen to support (I dream of getting the world’s dissertations in!)
@KnitMeAThneed just been watching the KG session... someone mentioned, in the Qs, that they were running a version of Blazegraph that won't split... do you know any more about it. That was new to me.
@ohiowomenshist @LSELibrary@K_Marino1 You might also be interested in some work we've done to link our Suffrage Interviews metadata with Wikidata in the hope of furthering discovery and new connections https://t.co/wLtNtjZ52z
Mired in SPARQL complexity I turned to ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot to see if they could modify my working query to add the extra filter I want - 3 different results, but none of them work either! So it's back to manual brain power instead!
@Tagishsimon@heald_j@wikidata Thank you both! Noted the need for the variables to be different but I can't replicate on other queries so just updated my post to see if I can learn what I'm missing.
@heald_j@wikidata The 2nd is trying to just get one image for each person to appear in results, instead of duplicates. I must be doing something wrong with (SAMPLE(?image) as ?image) - I'll pop it on the query page as my multiple different attempts haven't yet achieved success!
@mlpoulter@mrnick@annreynolds988 Nice! Great query - had a go for us too, and then added in optional images for a different view https://t.co/jE2HecL91Z Same caveats as you!
@mrnick@WikiWomenInRed@ellycope I'd also like to think how we make a page like this, or https://t.co/YveSasX8CH useful to researchers - at the moment it doesn't look inviting, and I think only librarians really know of its existence!
@WikiWomenInRed Keen to make contact about our Suffrage Interviews Project https://t.co/8ci5rOl2ao and some potential Wikipedia editing I had in mind. Is there someone I could get in touch with to talk further?
@mrnick@WikiWomenInRed@ellycope Would love to hear more about what your group is thinking Nick. The project page will need refining as the project develops, but I was keen to record where we're up to.
