11 years ago a BBC News journalist attempted to drive a prototype MINI-E from London to Edinburgh in a journey which took them 4 days.. https://t.co/lyp8TsVtNm
@aaroncawte and I are going to answer: What would that trip be like with today's MINI Electric and charging network? 🧐
@matwatsoncars Your “5 minute charge stop that was actually less than 3” is one thing…
But having your smart glasses recording while you walk into a public toilet? Weird behaviour to say the least!
@DanielCars05 5mi/kWh over 10 or so miles, you can coax those numbers out of even an Ioniq 6….
The efficiency after an hour or two on the motorway would be much more representative surely?
@StuartM89899952@DanielCars05 The MX-30 is indeed a pretty woeful EV, but they’re now sub £15k for a pre-reg/new one, so if all you’re doing is driving around town and will never touch a rapid charger, they are significantly more car for not much more than a tinny Spring.
@AutoPap That’s effectively the equivalent of a 1+23 lease on a base model Renault 5 coming out at nearly £450/a month, which is a pretty awful deal. Same monthly would get you a top spec 320hp Cupra Born with twice the list price…
@AutoPap Didn't you royally kick off on here before about the paint on a Yaris? But when a Porsche costing far more arrives with paint issues, you're completely blasé about it?
@colinwalker79 Do the stats for BMW include MINI?
MINI moved to the agency sales model this month, and last month dealers across the board were running fairly significant PCH promotions to shift cars before the change over - electric Coopers were out the door for not far off £100pm.
@SMMT I am a "private consumer" - No access to a company car or salary sacrifice scheme.
I walked off the street, into a dealership and chose a new EV on Personal Contract Hire.
According to the figures, which camp do I fall into? Could it suggest those priv/fleet figures are flawed?
@chetwynd_simon They’re simple *once you’ve set them up*
I love Fastned’s “automagic”, but the initial set-up process via the app is not as simple as a contactless transaction.
Imagine you’re a new EV driver who has rented one from an airport and now you’re at FN - What’s simpler now?
@TedWelford@LidlGB I’m not familiar with the Lidl app - Does having it set up for loyalty or points or shopping, also mean you can go ahead use it for charging without any further set up or entering payment details?
@suebull10 Hi there Sue
I was one of those held on the M5 this evening for 8 hours. In my electric car, I had the heater, AC, lights, everything on - and in that time it used 6% battery.
They most certainly can “run” for that long.
